- AIUSA’s digital fundraising and advocacy team, which sits with AIUSA’s Development Department;
- issue experts, campaigners, organizers, members, and leaders across Amnesty International USA and Amnesty's international movement.
- Lead AIUSA’s digital marketing strategy & communications efforts, including the development of new content for digital channels (paid and organic) in support of brand and marketing efforts
- Thought leader who wakes up every day thinking about the latest digital marketing/branding trends and innovations, envisioning how these can be effectively leveraged for AIUSA and how they can inspire the organization to innovate, think, and operate strategically
- Engage with staff, members, and activists to develop, test, and launch new content products such as e-newsletters, special sections, and events that will increase engagement and build and diversify AIUSA’s base of support
- Ensure all AIUSA digital marketing efforts uplift and center AIUSA’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) principles
- Collaborate closely with the AIUSA’s Digital Advocacy and Fundraising team and Development Department on joint efforts to build and diversify AIUSA’s base of support and ensure successful advocacy of AIUSA’s priority issues
- Develop and execute a cross-platform digital strategy that describes and prioritizes marketing, public/media relations, and operational initiatives to optimize actions, engagement, and support
- Create and publish digital content for Amnesty’s various online properties, including web, social media and other
- Develop and leverage a deep understanding of AIUSA’s audience demographics, psychographics, and behavior patterns to test and innovate content types and engagement strategies
- Stay abreast of industry best practices to inform and lead senior management consideration of resourcing needs
- Integrate all digital work on the Marketing & Communications team to ensure the highest ROI for org-wide efforts
- Use expertise in SEO and content strategy to maximize communications and marketing impact
- Collaborates closely with the Development Department, including its digital team, fundraising, and advocacy team, supporting them with content development
- Experience developing digital marketing strategies for large, international organizations
- Experience managing staff and teams
- Experience developing and publishing web and social media content
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A proven track record of building an audience and driving online engagement
- Experience with building brand awareness and issue impact through digital advertising and audience development methods (e.g., social media, SEO, driving engagement) and strong experience with best practices
- Outstanding project management and analytical skills, including the use of metrics to guide projects and decisions. Effective at supporting creative and working together with Marcomms to deliver clear and constructive feedback to the team
- Financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting
- The ability to write effective marketing copy for online and offline environments
- Experience hiring and managing a successful marketing team
- Ability to collect and analyze information to problem-solve and make marketing decisions
- Diplomatic, innovative, and creative when resolving non-routine matters that impact the achievement of organizational goals and objectives
- Strong emotional intelligence skills with the ability to resolve problems, manage projects, and implement appropriate solutions
- BA/BS required and at least 10 years relevant experience, or MA/MS and 8 years relevant experience working cross-functionally, with creative, marketing, and communications teams preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Adobe, and analytics software
- Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer
- Some travel is required, 10-15%
- Some weeknights or weekend is required, as needed

The Director of Digital Marketing and Communications is AIUSA’s lead digital marketing strategist responsible for the long-term planning, development, and implementation of Amnesty International USA's online strategy across all digital properties. The Director will ensure external-facing communications are aligned across AIUSA’s marketing and communications channels. This is a leadership position on the AIUSA’s Marketing & Communications team and reports to the National Director of Marketing and Communications. This role will require a candidate to be able to work during EST business hours.
The Director will collaborate with and supervise AIUSA’s social media and web content managers, as well as oversee related work provided by freelance and external agencies to develop and implement a comprehensive, creative, and impactful digital marketing and communications strategy. This position also works closely, and collaborates, with:
The ideal candidate should be an excellent digital storyteller, with experience growing and leading brand development via online communications and marketing. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated ability to lead all marketing-related strategies, messaging, operations, analytic tasks, and initiatives, which supports advertising, digital audience development and revenue generation.
Lastly and importantly, the Director should be a hands-on contributor, developing new content for AIUSA’s digital channels and provides backup support for web and social media content creation and publication.
