- Planning and executing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Developing and implementing capital improvement and engineering programs.
- Overseeing engineering services including design, permitting, construction, and inspection.
- Managing project teams to ensure successful project execution on time and within budget.
- Collaborating on technical scopes of work and vendor selection.
- Serving as technical lead for capital planning and asset management, advising on project prioritization.
- Leading engineering efforts in planning studies, land-use planning, and infrastructure assessments.

- Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
- Ten (10) years of professional engineering experience, including three (3) in management.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in California is required.
- Valid California Driver's License and TWIC card required.
- Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineering certification is desirable.
The Port of Stockton is seeking an experienced and skilled Director of Engineering and Facilities to lead infrastructure management, facilities maintenance, operations, fleet management, and capital improvement projects. As the second-largest public port in California by land acreage, the Port serves as a critical gateway connecting Northern California to global markets, fostering regional economic growth. Under the general guidance of Port policies, procedures, and strategic objectives, the Director of Engineering and Facilities is responsible for overseeing all facets of infrastructure, facilities maintenance and operations, fleet management, and capital improvement projects, from inception to completion.
This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team composed of administrative staff, represented employees, and specialized consultants, including marine, civil, electrical, structural, and environmental engineers. The Director ensures effective execution of asset management for buildings, warehouses, berths, docks, roads, bridges, rail, utilities, fleet vehicles, and cargo handling equipment, aligning these efforts with the Port's strategic goals.
