  We are looking for a Director of Engineering to deliver Autodesk Forma: our next generation of outcome-based tools and capabilities for the AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations) industry.   Spacemaker was acquired by Autodesk in 2020, to be the seed of the next generation of a cloud-based, connected platform for the AECO industry: Forma. The Forma team operates as an agile organization, structured to empower teams, innovating at speed to accomplish this vision.

  As Director of Engineering you will be responsible for building and running the company's products and services - i.e. architecture, engineering, quality, operations, security, release management, and delivery management.

  Position Overview

  Responsibilities

  • Represent engineering as part of Autodesk's Forma Product Leadership Team, advocating for engineering, product, and alignment to business strategy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, design, and other disciplines to ensure strategic alignment, frictionless product development process, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Own and execute broader initiatives that drive the success of the AEC Design business objectives.
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the team, including budget, resource allocation, investment asks, organizational reviews etc
  • Be a thought leader, staying informed of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, to ensure alignment across Autodesk to deliver a cohesive and industry-leading customer experience.

  Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing an organization of +30, with managers of managers
  • 12+ years of related engineering and product development experience
  • 5+ years of leading teams of engineers.
  • Ability to distill complex ideas and large amounts of data and viewpoints to their essence
  • Positive, can-do approach that inspires collaboration
  • Excellent facilitation, influencing, negotiating, and decision-making abilities
  • Strategic mindset and a passion for promoting engineering to drive alignment, innovation, and contribution to product strategy
  • Fluent in current product development methodologies and trends (desktop, cloud enablement, SaaS, platform)

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction industries
  • Experience working with data analytics
  • Experience building products with technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
