- Determine event goals and objectives in consultation with senior management across Evernorth, with the ability to align event strategy to business goals and priorities
- Allocate and manage internal/external resources for maximum benefit
- Build and mentor strong event talent and career paths within the team
- Originate, project manage and facilitate the strategic design, development, and execution of assigned programs and events. Scope of work includes project management and oversight, program/agenda design and development, participation on/leadership of planning teams, stakeholder communications and budget oversight.
- Oversee onsite event staffing, which might include directly assisting with (and/or managing onsite team responsible for) registration desk management, distribution of materials, oversight of presentations/AV needs, and coordination with vendors
- Ability to influence in a matrixed environment and present decisive recommendations and exhibit executive presence to inspire confidence with internal and external constituents
- High level of expertise, problem-solving, and decision-making with a long-term vision and impact across the function
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Manage and track budgets with ongoing monitoring and reporting
- Partner closely with colleagues across other lines of business to align plans for shared target opportunities while ensuring market connectivity and coordination
- Manage internal and external relationships with key event stakeholders, strategic partners and suppliers
- Partner closely with business heads and marketing directors to ensure events are aligned to broader business goals and marketing campaigns
- Work with other Event COE teams, Creative Services, Marketing, Corporate Communications and other business units as necessary to create and produce effective program deliverables.
- Identify new opportunities and innovations to enrich event programs
- Leverage creative, strategic and analytic resources and knowledge to drive brand and growth success within events
- Serve as a thought leader, partnering with teams across the company to provide clear decisions and guidance on event needs and application
- 10+ years of work experience in corporate events; Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated ability to serve as strong role model for team members, 5+ years of people management
- Events, business management and/or project management experience
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of events industry best practices and trends, innovative content delivery methods, event production/technology, destinations/hotel operations, online registration systems and related skills necessary for the successful planning and delivery of events
- Strong interpersonal skills and experienced influencer, with executive presentation skills being critical
- Requires travel (~25% of time) and off hours projects
- Ability to work from a Cigna office 50% of the time
- Excellent/advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Preferred: Bloomfield, CT; Tristate region (NY/NJ/CT)
- Alternatives: St. Louis, MO; Nashville, TN; Philadelphia, PA
- Reports directly to the Head of Events, Senior Director
- Leads a total organization of 5-10 direct reports
Overview of Position
The Director of Evernorth Events will be responsible for the formulation and implementation of Evernorth internal and external events. They will align event strategy with the organization’s business strategy and ensure each event realizes its full business potential as defined by senior leadership.
The ideal candidate will leverage the enterprise’s strategic initiatives and brand platform to execute events that consistently achieve measurable business objectives and outperform expectations and industry standards, as well as creating a cohesive brand experience. They will proactively identify opportunities to continuously improve our operating model, enable scale and efficiency and drive growth.
This role requires a leader, with strong event experience partnered with managing event strategy, balancing an enterprise approach, and focusing on business needs. They will lead a skilled team of event experts. The role reports directly to the Senior Director of Events for the enterprise
