      Opportunity Awaits on the beautiful Island of Hawaii... King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort Courtyard by Marriott currently has an opening for a talented Full Time Director of Finance and Accounting to share the aloha spirit and strive to create a memorable guest experience.

      Brief Summary of Job: Functions as the Resort’s strategic financial business leader by championing, developing and implementing Hotel-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of ownership, guests and colleagues.

      Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:

      ____ Provides services that are above and beyond for guest satisfaction and retention.

      ____ Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others;

      advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity;

      leads by example.

      ____ Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.

      ____Creates and executes a business plan that is aligned with the Hotel’s business strategy to successfully deliver desirable financial results.

      ____ Provides the financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives while maximizing the return on investment.

      ____ Recommends strategy designed to improve the property's ability to operate and perform as effectively as possible.

      ____ Identifies the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.

      ____ Provides hands on and ongoing analytical expertise and support to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities.

      ____Analyzes financial data and market trends.

      ____Attends meetings and communicating with the owners, understanding the priorities and strategic focus.

      ____Understands and meets the needs of owners, corporate partners, guests and colleagues.

      ____Advises the General Manager and executive committee on existing and evolving operating/financial issues.

      ____Communicates financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.

      ____Demonstrates an understanding of cash flow and owner priorities.

      ____Manages communication with owners in an effective manner.

      ____Manages Hotel’s working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand SOPs and owner requirements.

      ____Ensures Profits and Losses are documented accurately.

      ____Monitors all taxes that apply, ensuring that taxes are current, collected and/or accrued.

      ____Submits reports in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines.

      ____Develops and supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

      ____Improves profit growth in operating departments.

      ____Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.

      ____Reconciles balance sheet to ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs.

      ____Ensures that the P&L is accurate (e.g., costs are properly matched to revenue, costs are recorded in the proper accounts).

      ____ Direct preparation of annual budget and monthly forecast.

      ____ Establish and / or recommend to management major economic objectives for hotel and plan the work to maintain the status of the property up to the required standards.

      ____ Support General Manager and property financial goals by direct preparation of monthly and annual reports that summarize and forecast hotel's revenues, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.

      ____ Oversee payroll for all Resort team members. Manage payroll supervisor/ manager. Administering payroll edits, reporting, and time & attendance policies.

      ____ Ensures compliance with standard and local operating procedures. Ensure Hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items.

      ____ Maintaining complete knowledge at all times of: All hotel features/services, hours of operation and all department policies and procedures.

      ____ Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

      ____ Promote safe work practices.

      ____ Interview, select, review, train and performance manage department team members. Train new employees according to all corporate specifications, including documentation. Assign duties and schedule staff, balancing needs of Hotel and productivity standards. Monitor staff activity and coach performance.

      ____ Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department, restaurant and hotel.

      ____ Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

      Qualifications:

      Knowledge/Education/Experience: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications. Minimum five years experience of senior level accounting/finance management in a hotel/resort required. Experience in payroll; and yearly budget process and forecasting required, preferably in Profit Sword software. Purchase order system experience in Brichstreet preferred. Experience in a union environment preferred. College graduate in Finance, Economics, or Accounting preferred.

      Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: English speaking or bilingual. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external guest relations. Ability to direct performance of team members and follow-up with corrective action where needed. Ability to provide effective communications, both verbal and written. Strong analytical skill set and problem solving ability. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and present data in a compelling manner. Strong attention to detail. Dependable.
