      Description

      Position Summary:

      The Director of Finance is the strategic financial leader for the property, responsible for managing accounting operations and driving financial performance. As a key partner to the General Manager and Executive Committee, you will influence decision-making, ensure compliance, and oversee the property’s financial health.

      Core Responsibilities:

      • Train and coach property accounting teams to uphold and align with Remington’s financial policies, procedures, and controls.
      • Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting, including budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and compliance with deadlines.
      • Collaborate with property leadership, including General Managers and department heads, to achieve financial goals and prepare actionable financial insights.
      • Implement, monitor, and maintain key financial controls to safeguard assets, maximize profitability, and minimize losses.
      • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, management agreements, legal regulations, and audit requirements.
      • Actively participate in property staff meetings, MOD programs, corporate initiatives, and audits.
      • Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues. This includes the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements for the property: cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds.
      • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure accurate recording in accordance with established guidelines. Monitors and controls cash flow and operating forecast.
      • Ensure hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items.
      • Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels’ financial objectives.
      • Timely reviews and approval of all balance sheet accounts, including monthly bank reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliations.
      • Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, master keys, payroll, and employee records.
      • Hire, train, supervise and develop staff, including coaching, counseling and discipline.
      • Monitor hotels’ compliance in meeting required report deadlines and due dates and react accordingly.
      • Executes other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.

      Qualifications

      Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

      • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; 4+ years of hotel accounting experience.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems.
      • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
      • Leadership experience supervising 2 or more employees
      • Multilingual is a plus.
      • Experience with branded systems (Example: Hilton, Marriott).
      • Experience with PMS/POS systems like Oracle (Opera/Micros/Symphony)

      Physical Requirements:

      • Sit, stand and walk for varying lengths of time
      • Lift approximately fifteen (15) pounds
      • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
      • Focus and maintain attention to multiple tasks in a short time period, and complete work assignments within deadline demands, despite frequent interruptions
      • Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual ability
      • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment as needed

      Additional Requirements:

      • Available to work extended hours, including weekends, public holidays, and late nights.
