      JOB DESCRIPTION

      CLASSIFICATION: DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR: DIRECTOR OF HEALTH SERVICES

      REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES

      CALENDAR: 12 MONTHS FULL TIME

      SALARY SCHEDULE: ADMINISTRATIVE

      Summary:

      The Director of Health Services holds a pivotal role within the Chandler Unified School District (CUSD), overseeing the comprehensive health and wellness initiatives for students. As the Director of Health Services, you will spearhead the functions of the CUSD Health Services Department. This entails strategic planning, program administration, and policy development to ensure the optimal health and safety of students. You will lead recruitment, training, and supervision of health services personnel, while liaising with internal stakeholders and external agencies to address student health needs effectively.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Hold a Professional Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona and possess a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college of nursing.
      • Bring five or more years of experience in pediatric care or school health, with at least two years in administrative or supervisory roles.
      • Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, collaboration, and communication, along with expertise in Microsoft Office applications.
      • Exhibit excellent verbal and written skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Hold a Master’s degree in a nursing field or equivalent, showcasing extensive knowledge in public health, community health nursing, and strategic planning.
      • Showcase proven ability in project management, partnership development, and leadership, with a track record of driving process improvement initiatives.
      • Possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships, along with the capacity for independent decision-making.

      Core Job Functions:

      • Set goals and priorities for the Health Services program in alignment with district strategic plan, collaborating closely with School Nurses and other staff.
      • Lead recruitment, training, and evaluation of health services personnel, ensuring adherence to performance standards and compliance requirements.
      • Develop and implement professional development programs for School Nurses and Health Assistants, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
      • Collaborate with district instructional staff to integrate health education into the annual best practice curriculum, fostering a culture of safety and wellness within the district.
      • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, nursing standards from the state board of nursing, and district policies, providing expert guidance on health-related matters.
      • Manage campus health services, overseeing immunizations, communicable disease control, medication administration, and emergency care protocols.
      • Budget management, including allocation of resources, procurement of supplies, and maintenance of equipment to support health services across campuses.
      • Address concerns from parents, students, and staff regarding health services, providing timely updates and resolutions as needed.
      • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient delivery of health services within the district.

      Physical Requirements:

      The job involves a combination of sedentary tasks and physical activities such as walking, standing, and bending. Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required for computer-based tasks, while occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs may be necessary. The incumbent should be able to communicate effectively and adapt to varying work environments as needed.
