      Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
      Master’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Seven (7) years of full-time professional experience in a college or university setting. Professional staff supervision experience. Experience and knowledge of international recruitment and admissions. Proficiency with technology, office software and communication systems. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.       Preferred Qualifications:

      Extensive experience in admissions setting working with and providing leadership to international student recruitment/admissions and credential evaluation. Experience in international territory management and development. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience and knowledge with higher education technology platforms, i.e., SLATE. Experience with training, program planning, and implementation.

      Brief Description of Duties:
      The Director will work to promote, enhance, and facilitate international recruitment. This position will work across the office in support of international students and will engage with other office and campus leaders with pipeline development. This position will work on expanding recruitment and outreach across international markets and will be a key liaison providing training and feedback to our established in country representatives. This position will be front facing with partners to grow the reputation of SBU as a partner in the educational ecosystem and provide support for leadership when looking for connections and partnerships. The Director maintains close relationships with faculty and staff across campus and external educational partners and generates new pipelines of incoming students through these partnerships. The Director also needs to have demonstrated leadership experience in several key functional areas, including admissions, recruitment, market development, assessment, and virtual engagement. The Director will provide day to day oversight of professional staff members including coaching and evaluation while also managing program budgets.

      Duties:

      • Supervises and manages adherence to, creation and review of admission policies and processes for first year and transfer international students.
      • Assists in integrating recruitment staff into team that uses a strategic data informed practices to inform travel, outreach, and partnerships resulting in application submission, yield, and increased enrollment and enhanced program experiences.
      • Tracks performance of territories, assess initiatives, and strategy development for recruitment including intervention implementation based on admission partners insight and recommendations, i.e. in country representatives and agents.
      • Collaborates with executive director on recruitment and policy aspects related to primary areas of responsibility.
      • Maintains close, helpful, and collaborative relationships with campus and community constituents.
      • Consults on academic and student life matters with appropriate offices related to international students, recruitment and enrollment.
      • Provides expert advice and support to the development of new outreach programs and other academic and/or administrative initiatives.
      • Builds strategy focused on counselor, in country representative, agent, and education organization engagement.
      • Responsible for accurate, timely, and effective reports and analysis.
      • Leverages admissions and recruitment technology and supervises the reporting, compilation, and distribution of data required by the Executive Director of Admissions and enrollment team and oversees development of statistical reports and analyses as requested.
      • Responsible for ensuring high schools and educational organizations are engaged regularly including visits, college fairs, virtual and in person information sessions, and open office hours.
      • Oversees and grows relationships with international school counselors, education organization advisors, and independent education consultants as well as college access organizations that may focus on targeted populations across the globe.
      • Utilizes technology to track effectiveness and return of investment for travel.
      • Assists with creating new connections with partners to ensure pipeline to undergraduate programs.
      • Travels and represents the university at college fairs, high school visits, community college visits, and other outreach programs as needed; engages with professional organizations to expand knowledge of best practices.
      • Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff member(s).
      • Hires staff and develops performance standards and performs annual evaluations for professional and support staff.
      • Develops and monitors staff training and development programs for on campus staff and in country representatives.
      • Has regular staff meetings to strengthen communication and performance.
      • Assists in cross training of office staff.
      • Completes special assignments or duties as assigned and engage in office and unit committees.
      • Engage in holistic evaluation of admissions applications to the university and make recommendations on applicants; populations may include domestic, transfer, international, honors and other special populations.
      • Identifies and develops relationships with organizations that serve targeted populations to develop pipeline programs and partnerships.
      • Serves as key point contact for and coordinates the relationships and trainings of key partner programs (i.e. Global Affairs, in country representatives, agents),
      • Serves as liaison with Office of Global Affairs with a focus on guiding development of knowledge building programs on international recruitment, admission, and enrollment.
      • Works with off-site campus partners (SUNY Korea) to facilitate programs and admission policy; informs the creation and enhancement of updates to marketing publications, electronic publications, and websites, ensuring accuracy and timely updates that reflect admission policies and processes.
      • Responsible for regular evaluation of business processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and compliance with regulations in all areas of office responsibility.
      • Manages the population specific budget, ensuring the integrity of financial information, state, and IFR accounts; responsible for accurate reconciliation of revenues, expenses, and allocations according to established policy.
      • Develops short- and long-term plans for the office regarding staffing, resources, space, and equipment related to targeted areas of responsibility.
      • Other duties and projects as assigned as appropriate to position, rank and departmental mission.


      Special Notes:
      This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

      In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

      ***Out-of-State Applicants: Please note as a condition of employment and in order for this position to be tendered, the successful incumbent will be required to provide evidence of a valid license and driving abstract from the state issuing the license within five business days of a conditional offer and must obtain a NYS driver's license within 30 days of start date.

      Early morning, evening, and weekend hours will be required throughout the year to support admission efforts.
