- Oversee marketing communications across all Toledo Zoo channels, including social media, digital platforms, Public Relations, and events.
- Partner with the Director of Content & Production and the Director of Visual Communications to execute overall marketing initiatives.
- Lead and manage task delegation within the communications team, ensuring clarity and timely completion of all requests.
- Write content for social media, PR, and the website, ensuring consistency with the brand voice.
- Contribute to the creation and development of brand guidelines, messaging, and visual identity across all mediums, in collaboration with the communications team.
- Develop and execute social media strategies in partnership with the content team, focusing on growth, content creation, best practices, and campaign execution.
- Work closely with various departments to align marketing strategies with business objectives and drive revenue growth.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance brand perception, awareness, and engagement.
- Build and nurture relationships with key media outlets, pitching important updates and editorial stories.
- Support the development of marketing campaigns that promote the organization's mission and drive visitation.
- Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and the competitive landscape to inform and refine marketing strategies.
- Track and assess the effectiveness of campaigns through analytics, making adjustments based on data-driven insights.
- Manage and mentor social media coordinator(s) or interns, providing guidance and support for professional growth.
- This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer & Executive Vice President.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in marketing, PR, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience in social media management, content strategy, and brand development.
- Exceptional project management abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Under limited supervision, oversees marketing communications across all Toledo Zoo channels, including social media, digital platforms, public relations, and events . Director of Marketing Communications is responsible for executing overall marketing initiatives. Creates and manages high-quality digital content and sees projects from concept to production. Reports to Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires more than forty hours per scheduled workweek.
