      Position Overview

      The Office of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is seeking a Director of Operations to be based in Chicago, IL.

      Working closely with the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Fiscal Operations, the Director of Operations has oversight over all Governor’s Office operations, processes, and special projects. The position reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Staff of Operations and is responsible for the supervision of operations staff in both Chicago and Springfield, IL. This role is heavily focused on the larger, reoccurring projects in the office while also managing daily administrative functions.

      Job Duties

      • Supervises 4 administrative assistants across Chicago and Springfield offices.
      • Collaborates with fiscal and human resources teams to develop strategic plans for the office.
      • Manages several special projects and ensures timely completion.
      • Oversees the State of Illinois' James R. Dunn Fellowship program and Curry Internship. Provides leadership and mentorship to program participants.
      • Coordinates all aspects of state fair logistics including tent operations, scheduling, agency coordination, and collaboration with fair leadership team.
      • Oversees and provides operations assistance for Capitol (Springfield), Chicago, Governor’s Mansion, and DC offices.
      • Manages emergency action plans, inventory, and asset management processes.
      • Manages all aspects of the operations portion of the bi-annual audit.
      • Assists with all in-state and out of state office travel.
      • Manages office motor pool fleet, technology, and furniture inventory.
      • Cultivates a positive work environment and cross-agency communication. Provides guidance to office employees.
      • *Occasional nights and weekends will be required.

      The ideal candidate will:

      • Possess 3-5 years of project management experience in a government space.
      • Have a proven record of enhancing operational efficiencies in previous roles.
      • Be a highly organized individual able to manage several large-scale projects simultaneously.
      • Have experience successfully managing and developing junior staff.
