POSITION TITLE: Director of PC at Home (PC Virtual School)
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
• Valid Oklahoma administrative certification.
• Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience; experience in virtual education preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong understanding of online learning platforms, instructional technology, and best practices in virtual education.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze data to drive decision-making and improve student outcomes.
REPORTS TO: Principal of Alternative Education
DEPARTMENT/SITE: Alternative Education/ Putnam City Academy
SUPERVISES: PC at Home Staff
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, 10-month contract
POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of PC at Home serves as the primary person for Putnam City Schools' virtual education program. This role is responsible for the overall management, support, and growth of the District's virtual learning offerings. The Director ensures that the virtual program aligns with district policies, state regulations, and best practices in online education to provide a high-quality learning experience for all students.
• Instructional Leadership:
• Develop and implement a clear vision for the PC at Home program that focuses on student achievement and engagement.
• Ensure that the virtual curriculum aligns with state and district standards and is delivered effectively through appropriate online platforms.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of virtual instructional programs, using data to inform continuous improvement and program growth/sustainability.
• Provide ongoing professional development and support for virtual instructors to enhance their online teaching skills.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the virtual learning environment.
Program Management:
1. Oversee the daily operations of the PC at Home program, ensuring compliance with district policies and state regulations.
2. Manage the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of virtual education staff.
3. Coordinate with technology staff to ensure that the necessary infrastructure and support are in place for effective online learning.
4. Develop and manage the program budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support program goals.
5. Implement and monitor student enrollment processes, ensuring equitable access to virtual learning opportunities.
Student Support and Engagement:
6. Establish and maintain procedures to monitor student attendance, participation, and performance in the virtual environment.
7. Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and support staff to address individual student needs and provide appropriate interventions.
8. Facilitate communication with students and parents to promote engagement and address concerns related to virtual learning.
9. Ensure that students with special needs (IEP or ELD) receive appropriate accommodations and support in the virtual setting
Community and Stakeholder Relations:
10. Serve as the primary liaison between the PC at Home program and district administration, school sites, parents, and the community.
11. Promote the virtual program through various channels to increase awareness and enrollment.
12. Establish partnerships with community organizations and other educational institutions to enhance virtual learning opportunities.
Compliance and Reporting:
13. Ensure that the virtual program complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
14. Prepare and submit reports on program performance, student outcomes, and other metrics as required by district administration and external agencies.
15. Maintain accurate records related to student enrollment, attendance, and achievement in the virtual program.
OTHER DUTIES:
16. Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in virtual education and incorporate them into the program as appropriate.
17. Participate in district leadership meetings and contribute to the overall strategic planning for the district.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal of Alternative Education, Chief Secondary Officer, or Superintendent.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• This position may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the virtual program.
• The work environment is primarily office-based, with frequent use of computer technology and virtual communication tools.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
