      JOB SUMMARY

      The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall operation, management and strategic direction of the Hamilton Health Center Pharmacy. The position reports to the Chief Clinical Officer and works closely with the Chief Medical officer as well as other department managers at Hamilton.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      1. Serves as the Pharmacist in charge for the Hamilton Health Center Pharmacy and fulfills all responsibilities and requirements thereof;
      2. Develops and manages a comprehensive and strategic business plan for the Pharmacy including analysis of potential business opportunities, anticipated margins, forecasts of future sales and performance metrics;
      3. Oversees and adjusts all workflow, space and systems processes as needed to meet operational requirements;
      4. Monitors, analyzes and reports on established performance metrics on a regular basis;
      5. Works closely with the IT Director to ensure that all information systems are operational and accurate, including implementation of and transition to new systems and integration with existing systems.
      6. Participates in staff meetings, planning meetings and other meetings as needed;
      7. Provides consultation for clients and staff regarding medication and assures that all other dispensing pharmacists provide regular consultation for clients;
      8. Oversees the work of all pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and clerks, including recruiting, hiring, disciplinary action, scheduling, team building, performance evaluation, etc.;
      9. Assures that all pharmacy staff are appropriately trained to perform necessary functions;
      10. Ensures compliance with all licensure and governing body requirements including, but not limited to, the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy and the Office of Pharmacy Affairs (including 340B Drug Pricing Program);
      11. Ensures compliance with all contractual requirements of payers including, but not limited to: Medicare, Medical Assistance, Managed Care Organizations, private insurance, and all federal, state and local government contracts.
      12. Ensures compliance with wholesale purchasing agreement(s) and maintains close contact with vendor(s) for ordering, inventory and billing purposes;
      13. Ensures that all licensed pharmacy staff meet all licensure requirements including continuing education and recertification;
      14. Works with the Director of Quality to develop and implement regular monitoring of quality indicators;
      15. Responsible for developing and managing the operational budget of the Pharmacy;
      16. Evaluates and improves policies and procedures related to the Pharmacy and 340B Program annually;
      17. Participates in Hamilton’s efforts related to revenue cycle, which include but are not limited to: achieving goals for productivity; meeting or exceeding revenue targets; and expense management as budgeted.

      2. Familiarity with Hamilton’s patient population and communities served.
      3. Strong understanding of 340B Drug Pricing Program.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS:

      Must possess as Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and current, clean license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Must have three (3) years experience with the 340B Drug Pricing Program in the Federally Qualified Health Center Environment.

      LANGUAGE SKILLS
      Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with co-workers, internal and external customers, and outside contractors and vendors.

      MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

      REASONING SKILLS
      Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS/MOTOR COORDINATION
      Requires hand-eye coordination; finger dexterity, and a combination of sitting, standing, climbing, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 25 pounds). Must be able to write, type, use telephone and computer systems, and other office equipment.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT

      Exposure to routine office conditions as well as adverse environmental conditions such as dust, temperature and noise extremes, etc. May be exposed to infectious or contagious disease. Frequent exposure to outdoor elements.
