      Overview

      The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and strategic direction of the hospital’s facilities and physical plant. This includes maintenance, engineering, safety, security, utilities, grounds, and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The Director ensures that the hospital’s infrastructure supports a safe, effective, and patient-centered environment of care.

      Responsibilities

      • Oversee daily operations and long-term planning for facility maintenance, engineering, and plant systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and medical gases.

      • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, NFPA, EPA, local/state building codes).

      • Develop and manage the Plant Operations budget, including capital planning and operational expenditures.

      • Lead the facilities team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.

      • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all building systems and equipment.

      • Manage vendor contracts and external service providers for facility-related services.

      • Ensure a proactive approach to environmental sustainability, energy management, and facility efficiency.

      • Serve as the hospital’s Safety Officer and lead the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee.

      • Support hospital emergency preparedness and response plans, including utilities management and infrastructure readiness.

      • Partner with Infection Prevention, Nursing, and Environmental Services on facility-related patient safety initiatives.

      Qualifications

      Education and Work Experience

    • Basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, hazardous material and safety management experience required. Management experience necessary.
    • A minimum of 3 years hospital experience in Plant Operations preferred.
    • Knowledge of hospital associated codes.
    • Experience in management/supervision of all Facilities related departments (EVS, Security, Grounds, Biomed, etc).
    • Knowledge of facility buildings, equipment, and utilities.
    • Valid state driver's license.
    • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree in Engineering field preferred

      Pay Transparency

      Shasta Regional Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options. Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $83,200.00 to $120,494.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
