- As the primary quality representative for our internal and external customers, Run the End-to-End Quality Program for all our operational products and services within the JetBlue IT Technology Organization.
- Develop protocols and mediums of collaboration that represent the status of program level Technology execution. Namely cross-team engineering development efforts.
- Transitioning pre-release product changes into an ongoing operational monitoring and alerting strategy.
- Extensive experience in managing a cross-section of skillsets from manual testers, engineers, and Technical Project Managers (TPMs).
- Provide support to our product-development and release team to enable stability, predictability, and scale for our projected growth.
- Acting cross-functionally, develop automation that will test the assumptions of our architectural reliability. Coupled with the development of a formal observability practice creating an environment to help JetBlue leverage a common set of Service Level Objectives (SLOs)/Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
- Strong and experienced leadership skills with proven ability to create team focus, prioritize, and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Adept at assessing issues and developing critically thought solutions through an integrated multidisciplinary approach.
- Prioritize and help conduct integrated empirical day-to-day operations in collaboration with engineering and product management teams.
- Identify, plan, present, and determine a protocol of status as it relates to executing testing activities in both a non-traditional waterfall and Agile working methodologies.
- Create and maintain the Automation test plans, empirically developing the value proposition over traditional manual testing.
- Set the overall operational and organizational strategy for the Quality Assurance (QA) and Portfolio Execution teams. Based on published objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) offering course-correction based on routine tracking.
- Lead the growth of your team members’ careers, keeping them engaged through professional development and skillset investments.
- Empathizing with our crewmembers and customers is crucial in building the right set of priorities and practices.
- Manage and prioritize new projects, supporting the shared goals across the technology organization, and technical debt.
- Consistently offer architectural and production insights to our technology, product, and executive teams across JetBlue.
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience.
- Seven (7) years of experience leading agile Engineering and DevOps focused teams.
- Experience in product development offering direct-to-consumer offerings out of a mainstream cloud offering coupled with internal operational tooling development.
- Subject matter expert in developing test case strategy and protocols of status during product development sprint level tasks.
- Passion for solving large scale distributed systems engineering challenges.
- Detailed understanding and practical experience in developing progressive deployment practices within large organizations.
- Insatiable appetite to learn, measure, and drive the best industry experiences.
- Knowledge of modern application development practices and standards.
- Create a high-performance engineering and testing culture focused on accountability and results.
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
- In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Ten (10) years of experience leading agile Engineering and DevOps focused teams.
- Demonstrated experience in both technical computer science and technology management domains.
- Experience in large-scale modern cloud-based application implementations.
- Experience tackling tough issues, working across lines of difference, and creating an inclusive environment to develop equitable practices.
- Proven ability to engage others in compelling, persuasive manner and build relationships round shared interests and beliefs.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated with keynotes given, formal training, and industry publications.
- Ability to motivate and positively engage staff and management in ways that build trust and enthusiasm.
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice.
- Able to maintain professional appearance.
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist in light cleaning of the aircraft.

- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System.

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and Safety Action Report (SAR)).
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls.

- The base pay range for this position is between $178,100.00 and $250,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
Position Summary
The Director of Quality Assurance and Portfolio Execution is responsible for managing the overall strategy, tactics, and protocols validating JetBlue’s architecture, software, and infrastructure. This Director will have extensive experience in product development methodologies. In conjunction with our leaders in application development and infrastructure, they will lead their teams towards a cross-functional operating model, sharing the same outcomes and objectives across the technology organization. Additionally, this role requires extensive experience in managing a technology program portfolio and offering protocols of visibility for the development, quality, and availability of the JetBlue technology organization’s portfolio of prioritized initiatives.
