  Role: Responsible for the Director of Slots Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

  
  

  This position is responsible for the overall management of the Slot Department. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Safeguarding company assets within the slot department
  • Establishing and implementing slot department policies and procedures ensuring that all rules, policies and procedures are adhered to by slot employees.
  • Producing established slot reports for management
  • Overseeing and supervising the slot machine maintenance function
  • Establishing and maintaining a well-trained and disciplined departmental workforce.
  • Formulating long range planning, budgets and policies for department
  • Ensuring adherence to state gaming regulations

  MAJOR JOB DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Responsible for the direction and operational supervision of the Slot Department and its employees. Director also shares in the responsibility for meeting employee needs such as providing the proper equipment for the employees to perform their job, adequate staffing numbers, corrective coaching, goal setting, performance planning, training, and motivation. The director is responsible for the safe and accurate control of funds assigned to and derived from all operations in his/her designated area and works closely with the Security and Surveillance Departments as necessary in order to maintain proper controls. The director also identifies regular and VIP Guests, actively contributing to the property wide customer development and marketing effort. The director is expected to perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the General Manager or Owners of the casino.
  • Director must be capable of effectively managing the performance of slot, video poker and other gaming devices.
  • Must be able to layout a slot floor in a manner that will achieve maximum performance.
  • Must be able to lead, motivate, and communicate in English with staff and other departments.
  • Must understand budgeting and financial performance as it relates to the operation of a Slot Department.
  • Must understand all aspects of purchasing as it relates to a slot operation.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of gaming markets as they related to a slot department operation.
  • The Director of Slot Operations reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
  • The Assistant Director of Slot Operations and the Tech Manager report directly to the Director of Slot Operations.
  • There are approximately 10 salaried employees and 90 hourly employees in the department.
  • The director of this department works directly with Marketing, Food and Beverage, Security, Surveillance, and a number of other departments and individuals.
  • The director’s performance is based on his/her ability to generate and increase revenues within the Slot Department. It is also based on his/her ability to: insure compliance with all Gaming Control Board regulation; comply with all accounting procedures; work with all department within the company, etc..

  REQUIRED CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

  • NV GAMING License
  • TAM card. (Alcohol Awareness)

  
  

  PHYSICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in an office environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. A casino environment typically allows smoking.

  • Interacts with management, applicants, fellow Associates and/or guests.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
  • Requires prolonged standing, walking and mobility.
  • Requires bending and reaching.
  • Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Requires lifting items weighing up to 15 bs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
  • Requires eye/hand coordination.
  • Working knowledge of all floors cleaning equipment to include buffers, walk behind scrubbers, strippers.
  • Requires stooping upward reaching.
  • Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and always requires using personal protective equipment (PPE)
