    • Primary Purpose:
      Provide vision and leadership with integrity for district special education programs to ensure a continuum of comprehensive services and individualized programs for students with disabilities. Coordinate, manage, and supervise other non-special education programs, services, and staff as assigned. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local requirements.

      Qualifications:
      Education/Certification:
      Master’s degree or higher from accredited college or university in administration or related field
      Mid-Management Certificate, Principal Standard Certificate, or Supervisor Certificate, preferred
      Valid Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsement, preferred

      Special Knowledge/Skills:
      Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
      Knowledge and understanding of special education programs, including applicable laws and regulations
      General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
      Strong organization skills
      Understanding of the individual needs of students with disabilities

      Experience:
      Five years special education/teaching experience
      Three years administrative experience in an educational setting
      Knowledge of special education programs, professional development, applicable laws and regulations
      Basic technology skills

      Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
      Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals;
      standard instructional equipment
      Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
      Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
      Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
      Environment: Frequent districtwide travel
      Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
