      Loomis Chaffee School is seeking a Director of Spiritual Life to join our community. The ideal candidate will be tasked with fostering and nurturing the spiritual life of the Loomis Chaffee community. A half-time position reporting to the Director of the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, this individual will provide organization and leadership in creating an inclusive and vibrant interreligious and interfaith program that aligns with the school's mission to advance the development of students in mind, body, and spirit. The Director will offer opportunities for spiritual growth through programming, pastoral counseling, and community engagement.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Develop and implement a comprehensive spiritual life program that reflects the school’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and global citizenship.
      • Foster an environment where students, faculty, and staff feel supported in their individual spiritual journeys and can work, learn and live in an atmosphere that respects the spiritual traditions of all community members.
      • Offer pastoral counseling and spiritual guidance through one-on-one meetings with students/adults and helping community members apply spiritual perspective in navigating significant life events.
      • In partnership with faculty advisors, coordinate programming and activities for religious affinity groups. Allow students and adults to engage with one another and explore faith, ethics, and community.
      • Lead efforts for organized programming for religious observances and rituals, integrating cultural, religious, and philosophical celebrations across the school calendar.
      • Coordinate the monthly Chapel Talk program.
      • Develop partnerships with local religious organizations, interfaith groups, and community leaders to enhance students' exposure to different spiritual traditions and practices.
      • Maintain and develop resources to support students, faculty, and families in their spiritual journeys.
      • Collaborate with school leadership on strategic initiatives, providing input and feedback on policies and practices related to spiritual life.
      • Opportunity to increase to 3/4 time or full-time employment by teaching courses in the History, Philosophy & Religion Department, depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s background and qualifications.

      Qualifications:

      Education: A Master of Divinity (M.Div.) is preferred, but candidates with graduate degrees in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field will also be considered.

      Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a spiritual leadership role, preferably within an independent school or educational setting.
