Director of Sponsored Projects

Tsaile Campus
Duty Schedule:
M-F, 8-5, evenings ad weekends as needed.
Summary/Objective of Position:
The Director of Sponsored Projects is responsible for managing overall operations for award submission and management at Dine College. The director oversees pre- and post-award management; contract review and negotiation; sub-award management; ensures regulatory compliance; develops and delvers training; and reviews and updates procedures to enhance the research environment at Dine College. Position based in Tsaile or remote depending on qualifications of candidate.

OPERATIONAL
Manage overall sponsored projects operations, manage staff, and ensure compliance.
Manage or assume authorized organizational representative or grant portals and approved proposals/documents.
Manage post-award business procedures and grant modifications.
Ensure compliance with sponsor and university regulations.
Manage grant subcontracts, modifications, and re-budgeting.
Collaborat3 with Grants Accounting on financial processes.
Manage monthly reconciliation meetings with PIs.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
Develop training for faculty and staff as needed on topics such as grant writing, budget preparation, responsible and ethical conduct of research, and other research topics.
Train and assist staff and faculty with eRA system.
Develop and execute Dine College training plan to meet agency training requirements.
Develop and manage internal professional development for research staff.
Develop and manage research leadership program.
Manage summer seed program.
STRATEGIC
Collaborate with deans and schools to establish targets and goals for research agencies.
Monitor federal policies and impact on research.
Review, develop, and revise procedures to enhance the research environment.
Prepare reports on research metrics.
Advise VP for Research on sponsored projects actions, research procedures, and strategic priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree
5-7 years of administrative and/or project management experience
3 years research administration experience
3 years budget management experience
2 years supervisory experience
Preferred:
Minimum requirements, plus Master's or PhD
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential.
Knowledge:
Knowledge and experience in academic research administration.
Funding opportunity retrieval and dissemination.
Uniform Guidance and higher education research environment.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Budgeting and accounting experience.
Staff training and development skills.
Prioritization and deadline management skills.
Abilities:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:
Professional or home office environment with occasional travel.
Occasional travel to attend conferences or meetings.
