      GEICO seeks an energetic, seasoned, and agile communications leader to support our Corporate Communications organization. In this high-impact role, the candidate will work with the Vice President of Communications and alongside the Corporate Communications Leadership Team to drive communications strategy and planning for GEICO both internally and externally.

      The Director of Strategy and Planning Communications is a highly visible role at GEICO. The position will work cross-functionally with several other departments such as Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations, and others to drive strategy and create and execute a multi-channel communications strategy. In addition, the Director of Strategy and Planning Communications will report directly to the Vice President of Communications and serve as a strong deputy, provide strategic counsel, and will work with agencies responsible for management and direction.

      Collaboration, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and experience working in large companies or agencies across multiple organizations are vital to your success.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Create and execute a multi-channel communications strategy that encompasses both internal and external communications including online and social media components

      • Develop and oversee implementation of strategic communications strategies that will promote the company’s product and mission, strengthen brand and boost awareness

      • Work closely with the Corporate Communications External and Internal leaders/teams to provide content to support the communication needs for major business initiatives such as talent management, employee resource groups, corporate sustainability, community outreach, new initiatives/policies, etc.

      • Ensure continuity of the brand through consistency of voice, tone, accuracy, and quality

      • Build relationships with key internal partners (e.g., Business Leaders, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Government Affairs, Human Resources, etc.) to better understand the business transformation and prepare for, and execute, related communications initiatives

      • Determine long-term goals and the strategies needed to achieve them that will help to build trust within internal and external audiences and drive positive business awareness and growth

      • Continuously measure, evaluate, and modify communications plans and tactics to improve impact and effectiveness

      • Engage and manage external agencies or other third parties on behalf of GEICO

      Qualifications:

      • 10 years or more of relevant corporate communications experience bringing to GEICO a deep understanding of best-in-class communications practices

      • Strong external communications experience in dealing with high-profile issues and proven ability to build a high-performing, diverse corporate communications function

      • Exceptional communicator, able to present ideas verbally, in writing, formally and informally

      • Experience working on Corporate Social Responsibility or other purpose-driven initiatives

      • Proven manager, someone who knows how to build teams and values leading high-performing teams and bringing out the best in individuals’ assets and capabilities

      • Experience working with the C-Suite, Boards and other high-profile leaders

      • Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail

      • Ability to collaborate, influence and provide recommendations to drive decision-making and execution

      • Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills; ability to resolve tough business problems with well-structured analyses

      • Bachelor’s degree required
