      Reports To: Dean of Student Success and Engagement

      Work Hours: 35

      Status: Full Time

      FSLA Classification: Exempt

      SUMMARY

      The Director Student Engagement seeks to empower all students through the leadership, direction, and participation in the College’s student-centered social and cultural co-curricular experiences. The Director provides the development of robust developmental opportunities and experiences for students and is directly responsible for the operation, programs, and services related to leadership and governance programs, as well as New Student activities starting with the Student Orientation at Rosemont (SOAR) Program and continuing throughout the college life cycle. The Director reports directly to the Dean for Student Success and Engagement and is a member of the Student Life Professional Staff.

      SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*

      • Encourage, develop, and support social, cultural, intellectual, recreational, leadership, and governance programs and activities to expand student involvement within the campus community;
      • Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive co-curricular student involvement and engagement programs helping to facilitate each individual student’s personal growth and formation
      • Manages financial resources, within budget limits, in accordance with college guidelines under the guidance and supervision of the Dean by planning, developing, and overseeing designated budgets
      • Develop co-sponsored or complementary programs and forms strong network ties with campus organizations, departments, and campus programming committee
      • Oversee Student Activity publications and social media accounts
      • Responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of the New Student Orientation Program (SOAR and Welcome Week) and Finals Breakfast
      • Serve on committees to support campus wide events (Oktoberfest, Founders’ Week, Commencement, etc.).
      • Primary SGA Advisor
      • Provide vision to the development and sustainment of programming intended to engage and include students from varied populations and diverse cultures
      • Promotes student advocacy, diversity, involvement, inclusivity in developing and mentoring student leaders and provides programs, services, and initiatives designed to encourage and engage students from populations that may sit at the margins of the campus community by increasing awareness, promoting support, and creating opportunities for interaction and dialogue.
      • Inform students about non-academic policies and procedures and how these are related to their lives and activities;
      • Facilitate the development of school spirit through the development of creative connections among students, faculty, administrators, and staff;
      • Support the development of student leaders. (Based on CAS Standards and Guidelines)
      • Provide information to the campus community on up-coming student events
      • Develop, implement, and provide on-going evaluation for a comprehensive co-curricular student involvement and engagement program, helping to facilitate individual growth and identity formation
      • Assist newly formed clubs in the process to becoming recognized student organizations
      • Other duties as assigned

      SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s Degree required
      • Master’s Degree preferred
      • Higher Education experience Preferred
      • 2 years of related experience in an administrative position within Student Life with emphasis in student leadership and activities
      • Creative problem-solving skills

      • Excellent written communication skills
      • Demonstrated supervisory and team-building skills
      • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

      • Proficient with Microsoft® Office Products (specifically, Word and Excel)
      • Proficiency with Internet to use as resource, research and work tool
      • Good interpersonal skills – ability to work well with Faculty, Students and Staff
      • Excellent oral communication skills (i.e., ability to deal effectively with others; speak professionally on the phone, etc.)
