Develop a clear line of sight to policy and UK Gov spending priorities
Personally build and maintain strong working relationships with UK Central Government, MoD, SPADs, Industry Bodies and senior decision makers, while creating a plan for KBR senior colleague engagement
Be a ‘door opener extraordinaire’
Be a KBR ambassador, landing messaging that results in KBR being recognised for all its capabilities and what we can deliver into the market. With the ultimate goal, of UK Government policy and aligned budgets being linked to KBRs strategy and growth targets, so the BD teams can develop into pipeline opportunities, and transition into revenue
Digest, analyse and advise on political and Government intelligence that can inspire the strategic growth direction of KBR, and act as an internal advisor providing updates on such Government and political developments. Build an internal network that understands the commercial impact of public policy objectives and how they link to KBRs mission to help make the world safer and more secure
Work closely with Strategy, Marketing, and Growth teams to identify external engagement opportunities that align to KBRs growth plans, relevant government contracts, tenders, and flagship policy initiatives
Provide briefings, core scripts, and other support to principals when engaging external stakeholders, Government and trade bodies; including relevant exhibitions
Work collaboratively across KBR Team of Teams to assist with development of growth/partnership strategies
Understanding of and experience in the UK Public procurement within highly regulated industries such as Defence, Government Programmes, Energy, and Nuclear. Specifically through engineering, technical consultancy, and programme delivery market propositions
Demonstratable experience in accessing political, public policy or Central Government environments, for example in a Ministerial Private Office, or as a Parliamentary Assistant
Experience of working in external communications function preferably within Government Relations
Knowledge of the workings of UK Government and Parliaments, with experience working for local or national political parties.
An understanding of how Central Government operates and its ongoing priorities, including the Cabinet Office Strategic Suppliers process and engagement
Experience working with UK DBT and Trade Bodies
Understanding and experience of working within the UK Military/Defence/DE&S environment including contact with UK Armed Forces and/or UK Defence industry
Understanding and experience of working within the UK Nuclear and Energy environment including contact with Great British Energy, Great British Nuclear, other energy departments, and/or UK industry
Knowledge of KBR’s customer/client base and partners
Adept at successfully and safely wielding scissors to great affect at office and project opening ceremonies
Significant senior level experience working in a large corporate or professional services firm
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to display tact and diplomacy
Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines
Experience leading, working within, and inspiring of mix-matrix business teams towards single agreed goals
Creation of clear, impactful briefs for internal teams and external stakeholders
Presenting to a wide selection, often very senior, stakeholders
Understanding and inspiring the multiple people and their perspectives needed to tailor solutions that meet customers specific challenges. Building lasting relationships based on trust and mutual understanding

Location - Head office Leatherhead, Surrey, but most of your time will be spent in London (hybrid).
The Role
Reporting into UK VP Growth and working closely with the Divisional VP’s, senior leadership, and when required, KBR Executive to support strategic growth initiatives through the identification, tracking and influencing of key policy/political issues and events.
Exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for influencing policy and spending decisions that have a tangible impact on the growth of KBR. A high performer who can quickly establish themselves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership both internally and externally. You’ll build effective and collaborative relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders, including politicians on both sides of the House, senior civil servants, and industry bodies.
Comfortable balancing the independence of policy advisory with the support to business development engagement, your drive and excitement, combined with an excellent experience of UK Parliament as well as Government ministers and Public Private partnerships/contracting, will help drive the agenda and growth of KBR. Working directly with MP’s of all Parties, the opposition, as well as Ministers and the wider Whitehall you’ll have a clear interest and significant experience of politics, as well as the ability to work effectively in a corporate environment. Knowledge of the industries KBR operates within would be advantageous, but knowledge of MPs and political processes is crucial.
