Directing the administration of programs and oversee project management for the work of the WRIDL Team to ensure that work is completed on time and with high quality.
Providing leadership to the WRIDL Team in setting the team’s policy agenda and directing and managing program and policy supports for the programs overseen by the WRIDL Team, with a focus on advancing educational equity in service of Oregon’s diverse communities and student populations, particularly those historically underrepresented or underserved by the education system.
Leading and supervising the WRIDL Team in developing guidance and implementing policies, procedures, and program priorities consistent with policy established by higher-level officials and by determining the most effective utilization of resources in order to carry out agency goals and objectives for providing services to target populations.
Hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff; building internal capacity; and creating strong team culture.
Demonstrated commitment to system change that accelerates opportunities by removing barriers for students in our K-12 system who are and have been historically underserved.
Leadership experience in an education setting, preferably a school district, education service district or state education agency and evidence of awareness of national and worldwide worldwide trends and research in the areas of teaching, learning, and assessment, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, STEM/STEAM education, digital learning, and expanding access to well-rounded course options.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state grant administration, hiring and onboarding processes, Oregon Administrative Rule processes and development, budget and agency operations.
Demonstrated understanding and ability to use the lever of policy as central to your work and role.
Ability to provide an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive resolution of conflicts. Highly effective and well-developed interpersonal skills and self-awareness. The ability to manage situations and tailor approach to the individual's skills, needs and performance. Ability to collaborate across multiple systems (i.e. national, state, local, school districts, SEAs, etc.) and work together to streamline services across multiple communities and programs. Ability to navigate complex socio-political contexts and solicit and value diverse viewpoints.
Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic organizational goals, plans and policies. Experience analyzing complex and sensitive issues and situations, identifying alternative solutions, and forecasting consequences of proposed actions and implementing recommendations in support of strategic organizational goals, plans and policies.
Budget planning and preparation including forecasting and establishing budget projections associated with revenue streams. Strong knowledge of the principles and process of budgeting and financial management as it relates to operational management and program delivery. Understanding of state and federal funding processes.

Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.

We are seeking a Director of Well-Rounded, Integrated & Digital Learning (WRIDL) to join our Office of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment at the Oregon Department of Education . This is a permanent position represented by Management Service Supervisory.
This role is a hybrid of remote work and will need to report to the office when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. Remote work is embraced to the fullest extent possible without interfering with business.

What you will do!
As Director of Well-Rounded, Integrated & Digital Learning, you will lead the WRIDL Team in meeting its objective of advancing educational equity by increasing statewide capacity around education technology including considerations of artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, STEM/STEAM education, digital learning, and expanding access to well-rounded course options. In this role, you will also play a central role in stewarding the Oregon Open Learning platform and the Oregon Digital Learning program.Typical duties include:
Travel:
This position requires some national and statewide travel, including overnight, weekend, and some evening work; requires scheduling flexibility and frequent workload demands that exceed 40 hours per week. A current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record or be able to provide an acceptable alternate method of transportation must be maintained.
