      A Brief Overview
      The Director of Operational Excellence is responsible for improving the efficiency of operations across the Facilities, Infrastructure & Safety (FIS) business unit including managing programs/projects, financial management, strategic planning and team building. With strong focus in leadership, strategy execution and innovation, this critical member of the FIS leadership team serves as a key advisor to the Executive Director to ensure the integrity of the business unit services supports the overall SHC strategic plan while meeting the business objectives of the organization.

      What you will do

      • Sets vision for and leads the Resource Management department and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
      • Partners with Executive Director in strategic planning for business unit including staffing. Maintains continuous alignment with defined strategic business objectives in conjunction with leadership.
      • Acts in an advisory role to all FIS departments, programs, staff and leaders.
      • Directs and assures the efficient operation of day-to-day activities of the Operations team and ensures competency of all staff.
      • Directs the Technical Training team to ensure continuous learning and competency development of staff.
      • Directs the Scheduling team to ensure continuous improvement of project scheduling and identification of scheduling critical paths, deviations and problem solving for optimization.
      • Leads recruiting, onboarding and hosting of events for the business unit to promote employee engagement.
      • Facilitates process improvement activities within the business unit and mentors/coaches’ staff on lean principles including the Stanford Operating System (SOS).
      • Implements, oversees and continuously improves systems, processes and standard work to drive the successful management of operations.
      • Develops, prepares and executes long range and annual strategic plans, budgets, business continuity, and assures compliance.
      • Leads interdisciplinary approaches to enterprise-generated and facility-centered initiatives. Facilitates effective communication across the enterprise. Builds, develops and grows business relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
      • Partners and coordinates with appropriate departments concerning facility maintenance and construction projects, communicates with all affected parties especially business owners and end-users.
      • Leads the implementation of programs and/or projects as assigned by the Executive Director of Facilities, Infrastructure and Safety.


      Education Qualifications

      • Bachelor's Degree Job requires a Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.


      Experience Qualifications

      • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.


      Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Basic knowledge of project management methodologies to lead project teams; write in a clear and understandable manner.
      • Understands extremely complex verbal or written instructions.
      • Must be well organized and systematic in work processes, possess excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities while managing aggressive deadlines.
      • Ability to delegate assignments and share decision-making with team members as appropriate.
      • Must have strong leadership skills and be able to lead project teams, exercising strong interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
      • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate efficient and cost-effective methods for construction, repair and/or maintenance projects as applicable.
      • Ability to establish the strategic direction and business plans for a functional group.
      • Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people, costs, time).
      • Ability to plan, organize and manage building operational services; develop, implement and evaluate a variety of building and operation systems and preventative maintenance programs.
      • Ability to research regulations, procedures or technical reference materials relating to building maintenance.
      • Ability to strategize, plan and implement change.
      • Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader.
      • Knowledge of business practices to prepare bid specification, negotiate agreements and administer contracts.
      • Knowledge of materials methods and principles used in the maintenance of hospital, clinic and office building installations and systems.
      • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.
      • Knowledge of project management processes and systems.

      Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $74.66 - $98.94 per hour

      The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
