Recognizing that the elimination of opportunity and achievement gaps is critical to Boston’s vitality, OG works to attack cultural and structural barriers and promote culturally sustaining practices for marginalized students so that they can fully engage in rigorous curriculum and pedagogy in all BPS schools. Position Overview: This position will align policy, data, strategy, coaching, programming, implementation and professional development, academic progress and other supports on school and district levels while also working closely with Executive Directors, Senior Directors and Assistant Superintendents. In addition, this position will work with the Opportunity & Achievement Gaps Task Force and members of the School Committee to implement district wide gap closing policies. Reports to: Assistant Superintendent, Opportunity Gaps Location: Office of Opportunity Gaps (OG) Responsibilities: Consult on the implementation of Opportunity & Achievement Gaps (OAG) Policy into each division and department of the Boston Public School System (BPS) Assure every division and department are knowledgeable in the OAG Policy Support divisions/departments with aligning OAG Policy and Evaluation Goals Establish system to monitor division and department goals and data in real time Use real time data-base used to monitor goals, action steps and performance data Work collaboratively with the Office of Strategy and innovation to create a streamlined process between work plans and the OAG policy implementation. Provide capacity assessments, coaching and ongoing progress monitoring to disrupt the intersections in which our systems and offices create opportunity gaps; support teams to develop goals and action steps that will eliminate opportunity gaps and ultimately result in better progress for all students Identify and support the allocation of resources to build division wide capacity Work collaboratively with the District EWIS Instructional Coach, School Transformation Facilitators and the school’s administration to implement sustainable EWIS practices Works with relevant leaders to conduct needs analysis, develop training objectives and lesson plans for professional development in order to ground district work in CLSP Work with school leadership, school teams and district offices to align OAG policy with specific targeted programming and accelerated services for all students Qualifications - Required: Master or Doctorate Level Degree in Education or related field Strong knowledge base and expertise with OAG Policy and Cultural and Linguistically Sustaining Practices continuum CLSP Proficiency Classroom educator experience; Analysis of multiple forms of data; familiarity with pulling data using multiple platforms Ability to design and facilitate adult learning Establish team cohesion and foster collaborative group work and coaching supports while maintaining accountability systems across multiple departments and schools Deep understanding of key performance indicators and systems illustrating impact on student learning/outcomes Experience performing professional development and coaching to a variety of audiences including and not limited to Student Advisory Groups, Families, Community Partners, Boston School Committee, Council of Great City Schools, District Executive Team, School Leaders, and other district and school based educators and personnel Qualifications - Preferred: MA educator licensure preferred Terms: Managerial, D61.
