Job Description

- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, healthcare or relevant field.
- Five years of relevant experience in performance improvement, with at least one year of experience leading in a Lean environment.
- Expertise in statistical analysis and analytical problem-solving.
- Experience teaching continuous improvement methods and skills.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced understanding of personal computers, familiarity with the Windows operating system, and high proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrated track record of leading successful performance improvement projects.
- Ability to initiate strong relationships with peers and influence without direct authority.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Five or more years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
- Certification in Lean and/or Lean Sigma and demonstration of successfully completed A3/DMAIC projects.
- Experience presenting to or working directly with senior executives.
- Demonstrated record of developing and/or teaching courses about Lean values, culture and skills.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment with increased responsibility and leadership in a performance improvement role.
- Proficiency with process mapping software (e.g. Microsoft Visio).
Summary
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer, with primary responsibilities in leading operational excellence, developing leaders, and supporting an organizational culture of continuous improvement. The Director Organizational Performance Improvement builds on the organization’s existing investment in Lean to help achieve strategic organizational goals and objectives. The individual in this position uses and models Lean principles in facilitating rigorous, data-driven improvement projects and work redesign, assessing; prioritizing; and completing projects based on their potential to return cost savings; enhance revenue; reduce wait times and delays; and improve customer and employee satisfaction. The Director teaches courses about Lean values, methods and skills, and coaches members of the leadership team as needed in scientific problem solving. They support a culture of continuous improvement with online tools for collecting and managing improvement ideas from employees, and provide key operational performance criteria to the organization including financial, productivity, and quality indicators.
