      Overview We are seeking a full-time Director Physical Security (also Environmental Health & Safety) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a converged safety and physical security team, including the ongoing identification and management of physical security and safety related risks. Essential Functions Provides advanced technical, functional, and program management activities, which include planning, directing, and providing leadership across a division or multi-location business unit Provides oversight on advanced matters of environmental and workplace safety matters Develops, implements and executes policies and strategy relating to the health, safety and physical security of company assets, associates and guests of Garmin Develops/implements management systems for preventative security/safety programs Directs implementation of corrective actions/resolutions to program and management system deficiencies Conducts periodic risk assessments to ensure that legal, regulatory, and audit requirements are met Operationalizes risk intelligence within the domain to ensure the right risks are being prioritized/managed Plans/executes an enterprise-wide governance system to align on key priorities of physical security and environmental health/safety Develops/communicates physical security and EHS risk strategies and plans to executive team, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders Interacts with stakeholders to understand risks by defining potential business impact with the responsibility to apply effective mitigation strategies Promotes/oversees strategic security relationships between internal resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations Specifies security requirements for, and audit the proper administration of physical security systems and their corresponding equipment or software ensuring that facilities, premises, and equipment adhere to all applicable policy, laws, and regulations Develops, tracks, and controls physical security services annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations falling within the designated area of responsibility Leads compliance measurement and maintenance of policies for EHS and Physical Security Maintains updated and Garmin applicable knowledge of the applicable components of key frameworks including NIST CSF, ISO, NIST 800-53, etc. Designs, operates, and reports on applicable aspects of related governance frameworks, including development of governance templates, standards, guidelines, and tracking of key performance indicators Coordinates/supports EHS and physical security assessments to evaluate policy compliance and existing defenses and to identify vulnerabilities Advises management on industry developments in business practice, technology, security issues and legislation that impact Garmin’s policies for physical security and EHS Provides assistance to Human Resources and/or Legal Department as needed with sensitive and confidential projects Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or related field Must possess a minimum of 15 years previous law enforcement and/or security combined experience (not looking for someone with only EHS experience, need extensive hands on experience with physical security) Must possess demonstrated experience and in-depth comprehensive knowledge in crisis management, security, investigation, loss prevention, life safety, risk management and general safety awareness Must possess previous corporate security experience Demonstrated leadership experience with ability to effectively coach and mentor others Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated presentation skills Must demonstrate excellent problem solving and project management with a high level of interpersonal skills to work proactively across functional and organizational lines Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision Demonstrates advanced proficiency and knowledge of current Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Must demonstrate the ability to deal with confidential company matters Ability to travel as needed Desired Qualifications Graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development or related field Relevant certifications in Physical Security and/or Environmental Health & Safety Prior experience working with Corporate Human Resources and/or Legal Departments Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
