      Overview

      The Director, Plant Operations and Maintenance is responsible for the successful Operations of the Plant, Facilities, Maintenance and Environmental Services of a hospital or healthcare operation. This role will work onsite and alongside hospital staff and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospital’s plant operations.

      Qualifications

      EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

      • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to this position or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
      • Five years of progressive management responsibility in a field related to this position with successful multi-site leadership responsibilities.
      • Minimum seven years extensive experience in Healthcare Environmental Services and Facility Operation Experience
      • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Provider (CHESP) or Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred.

      OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

      • Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, site staff, and MasterCorp employees by written and verbal means.
      • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize and delegate as needed.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – Bilingual is a plus.
      • Ability to work irregular hours including weekends and after hours.

      Essential Functions

      • Partners with the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, the role is responsible for the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.
      • Monitor departmental personnel matters to include interviewing and the hiring of new staff, training, evaluating work performance, promotion, counseling, discipline, and terminations.
      • Develop, evaluate, and implement departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and standards of work for the cleanliness, infection prevention, maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings and building systems.
      • Participate in the development and applications of standards of safety, quality and productivity for the plant.
      • Administer and implement the preventative maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the facilities plant operations. Monitor its applications to assure maximum effectiveness and provides appropriate documentation of the same.
      • Administer and implement a Corrective Maintenance Program to ensure equipment is attended to as needed.
      • Coordinate the repair of equipment or recommend the replacement of or additions to equipment.
      • Work closely with other departments and administration. Negotiate priorities, plan work schedules, make job assignments, order needed materials, supplies and parts. Recommend use of outside specialty contractors as circumstances indicate.
      • Schedule and supervise maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction and the checkout, installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.
      • Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize the operational readiness of hospital building systems and equipment with due respect to the limitations of cost, regulations, and relative priorities.
      • Responsible for the selection and coordination of all maintenance service contractors and ensures all contractual provisions are met along with established codes.
      • Responsible for developing the annual operating budget, which includes personnel, equipment, materials, and supply needs. Continue to monitor budget after adoption including capital budgeting.
      • Maintain all NFPA & Life Safety Code Regulations for the hospital.
      • Oversee the daily performance of the department and ensure the campus & grounds care of the hospital has a uniform and satisfactory landscaped appearance.
      • Participate in performance improvement programs.
      • Participate in the Safety or Environment of Care Committee
      • Maintain compliance with The Joint Commission, DNV, CIHQ, CMS and all applicable federal, state, and local standards pertaining to facilities, EVS & engineering.
