      This opportunity is available to current WSSC Water employees only.

      The Director, Police & Homeland Security is responsible for physical security and emergency management at all WSSC Water facilities and infrastructure. The Director coordinates WSSC Water’s emergency response activities for the organization including internal coordination and external coordination with jurisdictional and state partners. The Director establishes vision for and management of WSSC Water-wide planning, training, exercise, mitigation and corrective action programs for emergency response, public safety, and physical security. This position serves as an expert advisor reporting to the Deputy, General Manager for Mission Support on emergency response, emergency protective actions, continuity of operations planning, critical infrastructure security, and general physical security.

      The Director oversees the activities and initiatives managed by the WSSC Water Chief of Police. The Director supports strategic planning for the use of resources, coordinating the activities of the Division with those of other local departments and ensuring that services provided and development plans are of the highest quality and support WSSC Water’s core mission of safely and securely delivering water and wastewater services.

      The incumbent is accountable for accomplishing departmental planning and operational goals and objectives within WSSC Water general policy guidelines. The Director is responsible for overseeing the development of appropriate regulations, standard procedures and internal operating procedures to carry out the activities they are responsible for. The incumbent is accountable for ensuring compliance with any and all physical security and emergency management requirements under Federal and State law and regulation.
