Job Description

- Masters of Business Administration, Project or Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field with an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
- Minimum of 7 years directly related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of facilities planning, architectural design, space programming and administration, capital project budgeting and financial management, project administration, building codes, construction methods and sustainable building strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of policies and procedures, documentation management and the production of plans and reports.
- Self-motivated, customer-focused, focused and professional, with demonstrated initiative. Able to work effectively at all levels of an organization and with external partners.
- Politically astute with mature judgement and tact. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies and to coordinate initiatives amongst varied key parties.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to grasp and communicate complex ideas and to establish and implement priorities within an environment where competing priorities are the norm.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to develop professional reports and presentations suitable for senior executive and Board of Governor level audiences.
- Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to lead consultative and consensus-based decision-making processes.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles of capital project management and design services, including the ability to read drawings, specifications, contracts and other complex documents.
- Experience with legal, risk and procurement requirements for project management.
- Proficiency with computer software such as MS Office suite and CADD.
- Ability to travel between campuses is required.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Director, Project Services reports to the Executive Director, Facilities Services. Reporting to this position is the Manager, University Space Administration and three Managers of Capital Projects. Indirect reports include three Interior Designers. The Director liaises with leaders from all areas of the KPU Community.
SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Facilities Services, the Director, Project Services is responsible for providing leadership and vision for the strategic management, coordination, support and effective delivery of capital projects and interior design services. The Director oversees multiple projects, effectively planning and managing changes and taking appropriate action to foster a culture of support and service to ensure that exemplary levels of customer service are provided to the university community. Primary functions include: developing planning processes for capital, administration of projects from conceptualization to occupancy; providing oversite for project management; construction coordination with Facilities Operations and external vendors; managing and overseeing budget development, estimates, cash flows and related reports; and developing and implementing policies, procedures, processes, guidelines, best practices and standards for capital projects and design services.

Salary Information
The compensation range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary (as listed above) for a position. Approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and approximately halfway of the salary range for a job. Annual salary increases are available through participation in the Administrative Performance Management program
