      The Director of Retail Systems Operations will serve as the primary point of contact within Peter Millar’s Retail team for responsibilities including Retail system strategy, development and improvement; retail store and back-office processes and procedures; and, coordinating with teams including but not limited to E-Commerce, Planning, IT, Data & Analytics, to ensure cross-functional alignment and execution on Retail strategies. Reporting directly to the President of DTC, the Director of Retail Systems Operations will drive transformation with a focus on customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and collaboration to drive the company and the department’s strategic initiatives. The role will serve as a change agent who fosters a culture of innovation, problem solving and enterprise thinking while always being mindful of the brand’s unique positioning and DNA.

      ES SENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      Retail Systems & Operational Strategies – Planning, Coordinating and Execution

      • Develop systems and operational roadmap in partnership with the Retail team based on business needs, and coordinate execution internally and with 3rd parties
      • Serve as the main internal business partner for systems related projects within the Retail team, representing the interests of the Retail department and collaborating with other internal functions on the execution of those projects (e.g. new POS & Merchandise Management system, DOM, E-Commerce Platform POS connectivity)
      • In partnership with internal and external teams, articulate RFP and implementation requirements for any systems projects impacting the Retail team; articulate key dependencies and impacts
      • Collaborate with the E-commerce team for omni related business process creation, management and systems projects
      • Manage and monitor project plans as part of the brand’s PMO function and serve as the primary business point of contact for Retail systems and data-related initiatives
      • Ensure integration of business processes which will include corresponding systems & data needs to promote operational efficiency and a coordinated DTC approach, consistent with the company’s desired full omni-channel approach
      • Work with Leadership and the broader DTC organization to understand the ever-changing Retail systems landscape in order to provide best-in-class customer experience while also improving internal processes and procedures to maximize company benefit and minimize manual work
      • Coordinate both the annual planning and long-term strategic planning process for the Retail Operations function

      Retail and Back Office Procedures and Internal Controls

      • Support the President of DTC, COO and their direct reports in driving the development, facilitation, and execution of the Retail Operations strategy
      • Manage a team currently responsible for the following:
        • Managing the business capability and requirements in support of POS related processes and system capability.
        • Ensuring functionality of all Retail store systems, in partnership with the IT team
        • New associate onboarding and training relating to merchandise management and POS set up and maintenance and other Standard Operating Procedures
        • In-store supplies and equipment
        • Retail store internal controls
        • Retail store expense monitoring and PO / Invoice submission and approvals, consistent with the brand’s Procurement strategies
        • Managing expenses related to aftersales service (shipping, tailoring, repairs, etc.)
        • Gift card program
      • Create and modify processes and procedures to ensure efficient retail operations and appropriate levels of internal controls; monitor and enforce compliance
      • Partner with internal teams on day-to-day requirements to ensure proper operational support for the Retail channel
      • Develop, produce and share operational reporting within the Retail function and more broadly to the brand’s Operational functions; provide recommendations for improvement and track progress towards defined goals
      • Provide competitive insights on industry trends related to omnichannel retail operations
      • Maintain an up-to-date Retail Store Operating Procedures document and ensure appropriate training of such procedures
      • Build and monitor operational budgets in partnership with the broader Retail team and provide detailed cost estimates for all Operational activities within the Retail function (in store and within the Corporate HQ function)
      • Support the President of DTC, COO and SVP IT to coordinate governance in areas across crisis management, business continuity and incident management
      • Work with the E-Commerce team to grow and further develop the consumer brand experience while further improving overall consumer interaction

      COMPETENCIES:

      • Demonstrated ability to nurture and drive transformation and growth within an omnichannel brand / organization
      • History of creating, enhancing, implementing and normalizing new businesses processes targeted at enhancing/improving overall strategic retail capabilities
      • Strong understanding of how data must flow and systems should interact with one another in an enterprise level organization
      • Ability to understand and support the Peter Millar brand and culture and enforce the brand vision through the team’s operational strategies
      • Exceptional financial and business acumen
      • Strong communication and influencing skills; an attentive listener with an open mindset who embraces diverse viewpoints, can challenge others, and be challenged
      • Intellectual curiosity and exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
      • Ability to drive and influence change and help team members grow through change
      • Display a friendly, positive attitude; this position will have frequent interaction with all corporate departments, requiring a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration

      DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree desirable
      • Minimum of 10 years related experience, ideally within a strong consumer brand with omnichannel operations
      • Training/experience in Project Management desirable
      • Experience and knowledge of retail best practices including store operations, pricing, promotion, inventory management and multi-channel consumer engagement
      • Must have demonstrated functional, program and/or change leadership in an existing retail organization
