- Analyze and understand insurable risks and potential risk mitigation opportunities throughout the different projects and markets Evans operates in; cooperate with the Project Team to ensure coordination between project activities, exposures, and appropriate insurance coverage.
- Partner with Senior Management to develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices related to risk management.
- Evaluate, provide recommendations, and manage the procurement of all insurance policies, including but not limited to: Property, Casualty, General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Directors and Officers, Builders Risk, and Cyber-Risk policies.
- Oversee, together with a third-party administrator, Evans’ Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP).
- Review, manage, and work with Project Teams in the implementation and administration of Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP).
- Maintain and oversee Evans’ Builders Risk Program, including reporting and premium allocation.
- Partner with all departments regarding incident reports and claims or losses, including providing notice to carriers of claims or potential claims.
- Manage all phases of the claims process from intake and investigation through litigation, settlement, and/or trial, and consults and/or participates in negotiations, conferences, and mediations under the direction of the Executive Vice President and the General Counsel.
- Assist Project Team in the investigation and resolution, of all property and liability claims under the direction of the General Counsel.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and protocols; train the Project Team in protocols and/or best practices applicable to their projects.
- Work with the Project Team, and Evans’ insurance brokers, to obtain appropriate insurance coverage and pricing for all new bids and projects.
- Oversee the request process for certificates of insurance and claims history requests.
- Manage relationships with third party service providers including but not limited to brokers, underwriters, and other third-party administrators.
- Coordinate and submit, as necessary, the gathering of insurance policy renewal data.
- Develop and communicate plans to address loss events. Review and analyze loss control and trending reports, and coordinate with Safety Department to develop appropriate action plans.
- Analyze and provide appropriate prequalification feedback on Subcontractor Partners.
- Identify potential risk exposures, recommend solutions, implement approved programs, promote loss prevention, and update and monitor compliance with adjusting companies, outside legal counsel, staff, claimants, and other involved parties.
- Oversee the workers’ compensation and incident reporting program.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in an Insurance, Risk Management, or Surety broker environment
- Professional designation is preferred (e.g., Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS))
- Experience in the Construction industry and/or in Construction Finance/Accounting desired
- Experience successfully managing a complex risk management program
- Thorough understanding of insurance policies and best practices of risk management
- Strong analytical and financial acumen
- Proven ability to apply critical thinking and use advanced problem-solving skills

Status: Exempt, Full-Time
Location: Alpharetta, GA (on-site)
Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000 annually

Summary/Objective
The Director - Risk Management will be a key member of the team at Evans, overseeing the company’s comprehensive insurance and risk management program. This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance and Legal and works collaboratively with members of Senior Management, General Counsel, Project Teams, and third-party services to design, implement, maintain, and communicate effective risk management strategies.
