- Administers and directs all security operations. Provides 24-hour oversight of security personnel, activities and parking.
- Responsible for budget (operating and capital) preparation and adherence and developing performance improvement strategies. Prepares and administers long and short-term goals for forecasting personnel, equipment and inventory needs and develops policy and procedures for revision and implementation of a comprehensive strategic security management plan.
- Chairs the Emergency Management Committee and actively participates as a member of the Environment of Care Committee and Workplace Violence Prevention Workgroup and provides input regarding security concerns/issues.
- Responsible for the development and application of standards of quality and productivity for the department.
- Prepares necessary statistical reports for appropriate committees and oversees the security incident report system.
- Assures hospital compliance with city, state, federal, TJC standards and other regulatory bodies.
- Maintains the privacy and confidentiality of all protected health information and related security sensitive data. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
- Manages and monitors a comprehensive parking plan with oversight of all parking lots for patients, visitors and team members.
- Conducts unannounced, random inspections/drills during normal and off-hours.
- Responds to emergencies (bomb threats, disasters, drills, etc.) during normal and off-hours.
- Serves as a liaison between local law enforcement and public safety agencies.
- Prepares and conducts security and safety in-service training for Security Team members and hospital staff.
- Ensures functionality of departmental equipment (CCTV, Access Control System, etc.) is in proper operating condition. Oversees the access authorization levels for respective staff contingent upon H.R. assigned job codes. Maintains security camera surveillance and makes recommendation on placement and installation of new technology and equipment.
- Participates in meetings, seminars, committees or other work groups as assigned. Provides assistance/guidance regarding security concerns/issues.
- Interviews applicants for department and authorizes hiring. Responsible for evaluations for direct reports.
- Initiates appropriate coaching actions and related corrective action in alignment with MWPH Just Culture.
- Conducts/assigns investigations into security breaches and criminal activity including workplace violence threat assessments. Generates/approves investigative reports relating to such incidents.
- Develops and implements appropriate operational procedures to include workplace violence response.
- Remains an active member of the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) and networks with counterparts at other facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned as they pertain to the efficient operation of Security Services.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for directing the development, implementation and monitoring of the hospital wide security, parking and transportation management programs. Directs team members involved in establishing, promoting and maintaining hospital security and property protection programs. Responsible for budget (capital and operating) preparation and administration. Provides input to Administration on security-related matters, parking and transportation management programs. Assigns and/or conducts investigations and reviews related reports. Interacts with patients, families and visitors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, security management or related area preferred. Four (4) years of related work experience may be substituted for preferred education.
Licensure, Certification and Registration:
Certification from the International Association for Hospital Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) is preferred.
Completion of the Masada Healthcare Workplace Violence Prevention training for Security Services required within one year of start date.
Work Orientation and Experience:
Seven (7) years’ experience in security or law enforcement with a minimum of three (3) continuous years in a leadership position required. Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record required.• Knowledge of Performance Improvement processes and techniques preferred.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• A thorough working knowledge of personal computers and software (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
• Must have knowledge of investigative/interview techniques.
• Must have knowledge of legal, regulatory and TJC requirements.
• Must have ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Must have ability to handle emergency situations calmly and make independent decisions.
• Ability to direct the work of others and coach/counsel performance issues.
• Must be able to physically intervene with aggressive individuals.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS
• Occasional stress during emergency situations or multiple demands and/or telephone calls
• Moderate risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne diseases requiring the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to established protocol
