      POSITION SUMMARY

      Trinity’s Neighborhood Support (NS) division takes a place-based approach to focus on communities in a holistic manner to solve for key challenges by combining targeted investments with on-the-ground support. NS is focused on yielding child, family, and community well-being by addressing the areas of early childhood education, K-12 education, post-secondary education and employment pathways, economic assets, social networks, and health.

      Director of Special Projects works strategically alongside the Chief Community Impact Officer (CCIO) and Deputy Chief Community Impact Officer (DCCIO) to ensure that Trinity continues to be responsive to the needs of the community we serve. The position serves as a cross-initiative project lead and strategy and thought partner for the CCIO and DCCIO, leading the coordination of special programming, events and convenings that help inform the field of wellbeing, support the work of the department, and elevate critical needs and issues of our time. The Director of Special Projects also works closely with our Neighborhood Council, an advisory board of individuals who either work, and/or live in lower Manhattan, that help inform the work of Trinity’s Neighborhood Support Division.

      The annual salary range for this position is $143,100 to $166,700.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Works closely with the CCIO in supporting the work of the Neighborhood Council, and other community leaders.
      • Assists the CCIO and DCCIO in broadening and deepening the network of partners across lower Manhattan.
      • Works with the Neighborhood Council on developing cross-sector partnerships.
      • Leads the development, coordination, and implementation of special events and convenings on behalf of the Neighborhood Support Division.
      • Develops and executes opportunities for the needs of the community to be heard, and ensures thoughtful and intentional follow-up, from those convenings.
      • Identifies potential projects that can be supported by Neighborhood Support’s charitable giving.
      • Provides strategic support and programming opportunities for grantees, as needed.
      • Manages follow up on items related to Neighborhood Council, and other events and convenings.
      • Develops all materials needed to support Neighborhood Council convenings.
      • Works across Trinity, especially with the Communications Department, on Neighborhood Support collateral and other external written products, including drafting and/or managing the preparation of web features, special announcements, and programming spotlights.
      • Assists in the research, synthesis, and preparation of content for CCIO’s presentations.
      • Handles and troubleshoots problems and issues.
      • Contributes to team discussions and planning.
      • Assumes other related responsibilities and special projects as required.
      • Adheres to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity Church Wall Street policies, procedures, and rules.
      • Performs all duties in a manner that promotes Trinity’s mission and core values.

      REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES

      • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and possesses the ability to relate well with people within and outside Trinity, including the ability to build relationships.
      • Strong research skills with the ability to synthesize and present clear and concise summaries and conclusions.
      • Skilled trouble-shooter.
      • Computer literacy and proficiency, particularly with PowerPoint and Survey Monkey.
      • Detail-oriented, and excellent organizational and time management skills.
      • Demonstrates the ability to exercise strong judgment and initiative.
      • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize, accurately complete multiple tasks, and work under deadlines and changing priorities.

      REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS

      • A bachelor’s degree is required.
      • Minimum of ten years of program / strategic planning experience is required.
      • Minimum of five years of experience working closely and collaboratively with communities is required.
      • Minimum of five years of experience working in or with non-profit organizations is required.
      • Knowledge of and experience in the philanthropic sector and/or government sector in New York City is preferred.
