      Strategic financial partner to the C-suite and other members of the senior leadership team, reporting to the VP, Financial Planning and Analysis.

      The Director, Strategic Finance will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer to actively support the strategic ambitions of the company, through comprehensive financial analyses and detailed financial modelling to drive critical decision making. The role will ensure appropriate financial due diligence is applied to key business decisions, including the appropriate allocation of the company’s capital.

      The role will have one direct report (Manager, Business Planning) and will work closely with a number of groups across the business, including: Financial Planning & Analysis; Tax; Business Development (“BD”); Alliance Management; Project Management; Investor Relations; and New Product Planning.

      This position is being considered for Waltham, Massachusetts or Dublin, Ireland.

      Basic Qualifications, Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, and/or Master of Business Administration.
      • Chartered Financial Analyst qualification with relevant experience desirable.
      • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a financial analysis role within a biotech, biopharma or pharma company, or an investment bank serving life science companies.
      • Extensive financial modelling experience and expertise.
      • Strong understanding of valuation principles.

      Responsibilities

      • Primary responsibility for maintaining the company’s long-range financial plan (“LRP”). The role will create and maintain multiple scenarios of the LRP for purposes of investment prioritization, liquidity management, valuation, capital structuring and tax planning. Also responsible for integrating business development opportunities into the company’s LRP as required and providing financial due diligence and deal structuring support to the BD team.
      • Working with external advisors to prepare various strategic financial analyses for presentation to the board of directors and senior management team.
      • Comparing company’s projected financial performance with Wall Street consensus models. Understand key variances and suggest strategies to ensure company is able to exceed consensus expectations.
      • Analyzing financial performance of peer companies to understand key business dynamics, including capital allocation priorities, use of appropriate financial metrics, margin performance etc.
      • Preparing high quality financial presentations, for discussion with board of directors and senior management team.
      • Performing ad hoc special projects and supporting FP&A activities as needed.
