Strategic Initiatives - Work with the senior leadership team to define LOB priorities and to develop our strategic road map to achieve our goals. Establish structures such as Objectives and Key Results, wildly important goals and battles, or other methods for focusing our collective efforts on the common vision. Lead, coordinate, or support to deliver LOB-wide special initiatives or programs, such the RACD mentoring program, Risk Management’s AI Governance Council, and the PBB Credit Risk Committee.
Reporting & communication - Design and implement effective communication strategy and plans and organize leadership strategy events and townhalls. Develop in partnership with the RACD SLT for measuring our progress against our goals and implementing appropriate reporting and dashboards for a range of stakeholders. Craft the narrative of our progress in monthly/quarterly/annual reporting to our various stakeholder groups such as RMET, GRC, RMC, PBB’s ELT, Exco, and other senior leadership forums.
Partner engagement - Support the SVP, RACD in broader discussions around synergies with other groups such as PBB Products, Credit Adjudication or Fraud areas, discussions or other longer-term strategic concepts. Create and execute a comprehensive team engagement strategy that inspires and motivates team members, including establishing KPIs to assess overall effectiveness.
Business effectiveness - Develop a network of contacts at other organizations to develop new ideas and approaches and to benchmark CIBC’s current capabilities. Attend risk management / business forums as required to maintain an awareness of industry trends, technology and standards. Develop and present business cases to RACD senior leadership to secure funding for key strategies.

What you'll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s team, the Director, Strategy & Special Initiatives reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Risk Analytics & Credit Decisioning (RACD). This position will be responsible for supporting the RACD senior leadership team in the development and advancement of our RACD divisional strategy, will guide the team in establishing our purpose, vision, winning aspiration and core strategy and in putting the appropriate structures in place to track our progress against our goals. With a focus on designing business and communication strategy and developing executive/board level materials, the incumbent will work closely with the RACD senior leadership team to identify areas of opportunity for RACD improvements based on industry trends, regulator expectations and other sources of best practice. The role exercises a high degree of independent judgement to develop and implement effective tracking and measurement models for assessing business performance and quality improvement. The role drives innovation across areas of responsibility, applying expert interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
