- Leadership: Establish and maintain a global TS/MS team within EEM Global API. Actively participates on and acts as technical and scientific consultant EEM Global API lead team, understands the business requirements, prepares adequately for the future and inputs into EEM Global API network strategy and is a member if the EEM Network TS/MS lead team. Takes part in global TS/MS projects to set strategy, defines and executes global TS/MS technical and improvement agendas for the network e.g., improve performance management, global governance and productivity.
- People management: Provide technical leadership and support to the TS/MS team by guiding, coaching, and mentoring. Play an active role in EEM-API succession planning, drive people development and performance management process for the team. Ensure the TS/MS group in the EEM API network is appropriately resourced by select, recruit, on-board and develop talent for the Elanco organization to meet the current and future needs of the EEM-API.
- Knowledge preservation: Ensure that all process Elanco-owned process knowledge is systematically captured, documented and preserved (i.e. maintenance of a process flow documentation repository).
- Continuous improvement: Responsible for the productivity agenda, continuously improving work practices, quality and reducing costs. Ensure that data is used to drive business decisions.
- Corporate Relationships: Represent EEM Global API at Elanco global network TS/MS meetings. Develop and maintain strong relationships with other Elanco TS/MS leaders and Elanco central technical resource pool staff. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the EEM Global API team members, support and partner functions e.g.QA, regulatory. Elanco central technical resource pool staff. - Governance & Compliance: Ensure support to EEM Global API governance is in place. Develop, track and manage the validation program and validation activities for all products at contract manufacturers across EEM API. Ensure programs and activities are compliant with Elanco and EEM cGMP, HSE, financial and other relevant requirements.
- Technical Transfers: As there is a significant Technical Transfer and Network Consolidation agenda for EEM Global API, the role will be key to provide support for all technical transfers within the EEM Global API scope.
- Communication & Standards: Ensure suitable communication methods are in place for the group so that internal/external customers, colleagues and management are informed of group activities, key milestones, focus areas and future action plans. Clearly define expectations for all scientists/engineers interacting with external organizations, ensure commercial awareness is in place from each member.
- Business & Long Range Planning: Develop, and then adhere to, business plans for the group. Ensure team performance is monitored against the annual commitments. Participate in the development of long-range planning for EEM Global API.
- Sourcing, Contract Manufacturer Integration and Audit Support: As required, support and resource due diligence trips, generate reports and submit recommendations. As projects and/or business contracts are approved the incumbent to provide technical assessment and integration of contract manufacturers into the EEM Global API oversight. As required and agreed, responsible for the generation and submission of technical packages in support of RFI/RFP sourcing documentation and subsequent recommendations in collaboration with other functional colleagues e.g. procurement, operations, quality and HSE. Prepare for and represent the TS/MS team at contract manufacturers as well as internal audits of EEM including external regulatory audits.
- Minimum Ph.D. degree, preferably in Chemistry, Engineering (Chemical/Biochemical)
- 10 - 15 years’ relevant tenured chemical or pharmaceutical work experience
- Experience in internal or contract manufacturing organization oversight
- People management experience

Position Description:
The Elanco External Manufacturing (EEM) Global API organization is creating its own global Technical Services / Manufacturing Sciences (TSMS) team. The Director TSMS, EEM-API is key for the built up of this team and will lead, mentor coach and develop direct and functional reports.
The role consults the EEM Global API lead team in technical and scientific API-related topics. In addition, the role ensures product compliance within EEM Global API, acts as an ambassador for scientific principles of how Elanco manufactures veterinary APIs and conveys those to the external manufacturers. The Director of TSMS EEM - API sits on the EEM Global API lead team.
