      About the Job

      The Director, Total Rewards leads the FMI Total Rewards function with an innovative approach and a continuous improvement mindset to build on and evolve current total rewards guiding principles and programs. This Center of Excellence (COE) role is familiar with market best practices and keeps abreast of the latest developments. Key responsibilities of this position include evolving and leading of the company’s base pay, short-term incentive programs, benefits programs, vendor management, employee well-being, and the employee recognition platform. Is a key member of FMI Sales Incentive Committee providing market insights on competitiveness and program designs. Oversees the Administration of the company’s long-term incentive programs and executive pay program consistent within our parent company, Roche Holding AG, guidelines, The Director, Total Rewards is a collaborative and strategic leader that leverages industry experience for implementing and driving best Human Resources and Total Rewards practices.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Lead the design, implementation, communication, and administration of the company’s compensation, benefits and recognition programs.
      • Work closely with People Team functions to ensure compensation and benefit programs are properly designed and administered in such a way to ensure FMI's ability to attract, develop, nurture, and engage top talent.
      • Partner effectively with People Strategy Leaders and People Business Partners (PSL/PBPs), Talent Acquisition, and Business Leaders to understand roles within their client area(s). Independently identifies and leads the development of collaborative solutions for complex problems. Duties include consulting on organizational changes, job evaluations, promotions, internal equity reviews, equity adjustments, and offer recommendations.
      • Evolve and administer the company’s compensation guiding principles including base pay, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, promotions, pay-for-performance, and executive compensation; utilize job architecture and career laddering framework to provide more pay transparency to the business.
      • Work closely with FMI and Roche Shareholder Services to develop LTI budgets and ensure proper administration of Roche LTI Plans.
      • Partner with Roche on executive compensation analysis, recommendations, and communication of Roche executive programs.
      • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Commercial, and other functions to ensure FMI Total Reward programs are cost effective, meaningful to employee, and compliant.
      • Provide oversight and management of benefits plan documents, plan design, implementation, administration, open enrollment, communications (including the monthly benefits newsletter), and compliance.
      • Lead the annual benefits review and planning processes, including plan design changes and negotiating coverage and costs with vendors while ensuring risks and opportunities are articulated and addressed.
      • Lead the company’s employee recognition program, #gratitude, including budget development and program enhancements as needed.
      • Ensure HR-related compliance, including new policy development and adoption/implementation of new/updated compliance requirements to meet local, state, federal governing laws; participate in OFCCP audits as required.
      • Prepare and present analyses, materials and recommendations to senior leadership, the executive team, and other Roche Total Rewards leaders, as needed and as appropriate.
      • Maintain effective relationships with peers located at other Roche companies, as well as Roche corporate headquarters, to ensure continuity of programs and to share best practices.
      • Develop programs, tools and practices to help better manage costs across compensation and benefits.
      • Partner with Finance department to develop benefit fringe rates, transportation cost analysis, and salary increase cost monitoring.
      • Develop Total Reward education collateral to enhance leaders understanding of Total Rewards and to facilitate employee understanding and appreciation of FMI Total Reward programs.
      • Act as a key member of People Team that contributes to objectives, and key results across the People Team.

      Qualifications

      Basic Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s Degree
      • 10+ years of experience with Total Rewards (compensation, benefits, recognition, etc.)
      • 5+ years of experience managing teams

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Master’s Degree or higher educational level in Human Resources or Business
      • Functional knowledge of Payfactors/Payscale (or similar system)
      • Professional biopharma, genetic, and/or life science experience including an understanding of therapeutic or diagnostic development and commercialization
      • Experience with operating under government contracts including pay requirements outlined by the OFCCP
      • Strong leadership history in complex and changing environments with demonstrated ability to gain trust and support from cross-functional peers and teams
      • High degree of analytical capability and ability to present complex information in a streamlined and easy to understand format, considering all possible options
      • Ability to maintain a balanced and objective point-of-view, and to influence at the executive level
      • Ability to look at business challenges and see how they can translate into a solution centered on rewards
      • Ability to work with a level of ambiguity and still make decisions when not all variables are known
      • Strong professional interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
      • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy & compliance
