      The Director - T&D Maintenance is responsible for providing overall management and strategic direction of the Electric System Maintenance programs and employees for transmission line and transmission substation maintenance. In addition, implement an asset management strategy to include best practices for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all apparatus and protective relaying equipment in transmission and distribution substations and generating stations in accordance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Responsible for technology improvements while maintaining engineering and operational excellence. Manages the performance and development of managers and high-level technical employees with transmission and distribution maintenance responsibilities.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence.
      • Ensures the transmission vegetation management program and pole inspection programs are properly maintained to meet reliability and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance requirements.
      • Ensure that apparatus and protective relaying are installed and maintained in a safe and cost efficient manner and meets all NERC compliance requirements.
      • Develops and implements strategic, operational and financial enterprise-wide plans related to transmission and distribution maintenance.
      • Establishes the strategic business objectives for the operation and maintenance of the transmission assets while maximizing their operational and financial performance.
      • Sets safety, operational, budgetary, and compliance related targets for the T&D maintenance organization.
      • Ensures the T & D maintenance team strives to achieve World Class Safety Performance by maintaining a safe working environment for employees and contractors, complying with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations and creating a culture of safety in the workplace and jobsite.
      • Manage and be accountable for the portfolio of assets through assessment of benefit, risks and costs aligned with of the business strategy of Cleco’s vision.
      • Own and oversee the development of overall transmission and distribution maintenance governance, standards, procedures, processes and metrics frameworks in alignment with industry standards.
      • Aggressively manages capital investment and operating expenses to ensure the company achieves owner’s targets relative to growth and profitability.
      • Encourages and implements maintenance strategies for improved efficiencies, reduced costs, and improved reliability through utilization of KPIs, data analytics, automation and other tools. Keeps the system current with modern technologies and best practices to enhance overall asset performance.
      • Ensures a diverse and inclusive workplace exists and that the organization achieves business objectives in accord with the company’s core values.
      • Delivers a modernized, well trained workforce ensuring the proper technology, work practices, and software tools are utilized in the workplace.
      • Responsible for the performance and development of managers and high-level technical employees within transmission and distribution maintenance, enabling them to deliver excellent operational performance with a customer-centric approach.
      • Responsible for leading the T&D maintenance team to achieve departmental targets through critical objectives, milestones, and priorities which are aligned with Cleco’s vision.
      • Oversee, manage and be accountable for all functional P&L targets and overall operating budget.

      Qualifications
      Required Education, Skills & Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or with NCEES Certification to sit for the FE
      • 10+ years of related experience
      • 5+ years people management experience
      • Experience and ability to lead staff across projects towards a common vision
      • Core knowledge of transmission and distribution principles, theories and concepts
      • Ability to negotiate and influence with a consultative approach
      • Strong project management skills
      • Excels at delivering and continuously improving solutions in a seamless, consistent way that results in clients understanding changes
      • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret business, workforce and KPIs/metrics into actionable insights and decision making
      • Ability to exercise sound judgment with little direction/guidance but also knows when to escalate issues to their Vice President

      Licenses and Certifications
