Individual will be responsible and accountable for the US IME T1DM function with oversight from the Head, US Scientific Communications & Medical Operations.
Possess an ability to assess clinical data and educational needs with primary responsibility within T1DM but also to provide secondary coverage within Cardiovascular, Diabetes (e.g. T2DM) and Transplant to support Medical Teams in the development of a high quality, innovative and strategic medical education plans.
Drive the identification, development and implementation of fully integrated medical strategies, tactics, measurement of impact and presentation of relevant data to US and Global leadership.
Responsible for ongoing management/updates to overall US IME strategy in the context of available medical and other relevant insights.
Lead the review and critique of educational grant applications for compliance with regulatory requirements, company policy and alignment with education strategies.
Critically evaluate budgets for proposed education activities and liaise with procurement and finance as needed.
Responsible for the development and management of the budget for overall US IME education plans, including providing monthly updates, tracking and modifications as required with one or more therapeutic areas.
Partner across medical to implement Medical Omnichannel, as well as social medial and DOL strategies.
Critically evaluate education providers for capacity to develop highest quality, innovative CME programming consistent with principles of adult learning.
Assess education providers to ensure that medical education activities are of the highest scientific rigor, educationally well designed and delivered in a timely, cost-efficient manner and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Support the maintenance of IME/CME competitive intelligence and program monitoring and evaluation.
Collect and analyze educational outcomes from funded activities; Monitor appropriate overall metrics and effectiveness measures and communicate results to internal stakeholders.
Maintain an accurate and current database on the status of all projects as assigned.
Leads innovation, idea generation, and execution of objectives to continually evolve the IME department, streamline its processes, and enhance its value.
Reviews educational outcomes, identifying key Medical insights and unfilled educational gaps to support additional educational needs and resources across medical.
Drive Global partnerships/collaborations to accelerate medical education launches specific to T1DM.
Responsible for US IME system of record as related to potential database updates/overall business requirements, internal transactional monitoring and relevant policy/SOP updates. As well, responsible to represent US General Medicines medical in both internal and external (e.g. OIG) audits.
Participate in cross-functional teams and ensure working teams meet frequently to evaluate educational programs and provide feedback.
Demonstrate understanding of Medical and Regulatory Affairs, Drug Development and Commercialization, and functional knowledge of medical education of applicable guidelines including ACCME, OIG, PhRMA, FDA, etc.
Participate with Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEHP) in alignment with overall business objectives.
Support RC medical review as needed across the US General Medicines Medical portfolio

Advanced college degree in a scientific discipline preferred (i.e. PharmD; PhD, etc.) or minimum of >7 years demonstrated US IME experience demonstrating strategic impact advancing overall business objectives.
Knowledge and experience in medical education (5 years minimum)
Pharmaceutical Industry experience (5 years) IME/CME Subject Matter Expert (educational grant review process, Request for Proposal development and education expert)
Strong oral and written communication skills including an ability to effectively present educational outcomes in the context of impact to overall medical strategy
Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations: ACCME, OIG, PhRMA, AMA, FDA
Understanding of highly regulated pharmaceutical industry environment
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships cross-functionally
Position Summary
The Director US IME TIDM will support the shared US General Medicines Medical and corporate vision of patient centricity by directing the strategic development, delivery and analysis of robust medical education that positively impacts patient care by improving knowledge, competence and performance of physicians, allied health professionals, patients and other providers of healthcare. This role will report directly to the HEAD,US Scientific Communications and Medical Operations.
Job Summary
Director, US IME TIDM, must have an advance ability to analyze and interpret clinical data, healthcare trends and independently defined health care gaps/needs and translate these into high quality, innovative and strategic independent medical education plans and priorities that are aligned with Sanofi US corporate strategic interests. Position will be responsible to present these overall analyses to Executive Leadership within US and Global General Medicines.
The Director, US IME will contribute across Medical Units to the design, implementation and evaluation of a Medical Education strategies that support independently developed educational grant-funded activities that provide compelling, well balanced, evidence-based information and data to improve patient care, close healthcare gaps, and aligned with Sanofi US strategic priorities.
Director, US IME will possess an accelerated ability to analyze and critique the instructional design and educational outcomes plans of proposed grant-funded activities for consistency with literature on best practices in CME and outcomes assessment methods as well as alignment with overall educational gaps and educational objectives within T1DM.
Individual will drive strategic contributions to development of medical strategy as related to educational gaps inclusive of the creation of Medical Omnichannel HCP journeys as well as Social Medial and Digital Opinion (DOL) strategies and subsequent implementation, measurement and evaluation of the overall impact.
The Director, US IME will work cross-functionally within a matrix organization to accelerate and ensure 1) medical education strategies, tactics, and educational outcomes are impactful and are effectively communicated and understood across the company including globally as appropriate, 2) all activities are compliant with internal and external guidelines, policies and procedures and 3) possess a strong strategic capability to manage medical education strategies with overall therapeutic medical education led by other functions internally (e.g. brand, advocacy, field medical, etc.) and externally available educational activities for healthcare professionals.
A strong foundation in therapeutics, advanced knowledge of CME/IME, principles of adult learning, and education outcomes assessment is required.
Individual will have advanced ability to analyze data specific to US IME and assess overall impact in the context of overall KPIs/data/metrics within Medical and the overall organization.
Individual will have an ability to manage ongoing transition, transformation and implementation of overall medical strategy for T1DM.
