      Job Description

      We are looking for a highly motivated Medical Affairs Director who is passionate about patient-centric virology, including HIV treatment, Prevention, Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), COVID-19, and Viral Hepatitis.

      Candidate must be a self-starter with a proven track record of success in prior roles. They will play a critical and exciting role in helping the US Medical Affairs organization identify cross-function opportunities in the viral portfolio to plan for the potential approval of lenacapavir for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

      The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of USMA POAs and will work directly with US and Global teams.

      Essential Duties and Job Functions:

      • Contributes to HIV prevention strategy, launch plans, and medical tactical planning with a focus on scientific engagements with medical societies and community-based organizations.

      • Identifies opportunities for medical education and scientific collaboration in diverse service delivery settings to increase HIV screening and sexual health services inclusive of HIV screening and prevention.

      • Monitors and understands the rapidly changing landscape of HIV prevention and treatment.

      • Participates in US and Global advisory programs as needed and integrates insights systematically across the viral portfolio for actionable medical activities.

      • Serves as a key contributor and knowledge expert for multiple internal and external working groups.

      • Develop US-focused, provider-friendly medical education assets including digital assets, slide decks, FAQs, and infographics to support field medical teams.

      • Attends medical conferences to assess/gather relevant information and support activities related to conference deck development and educational tools.

      • Independently manages projects related to the analysis of novel, emerging data and determines relevant information to incorporate into medical content and activities.

      • Partners cross-functionally within Medical Affairs and with Legal, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Public, and Government Affairs, leading cross-functional projects as needed.

      • Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

      Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

      • MD, DO, NP, PA, PharmD, or other advanced health care degree, required, and 8 years relevant clinical experience in virology.

      • 5+ years of industry experience including roles related to strategy and developing POA required.

      • Experience in the provision of medical information, slide development, medical writing, and promotional review committee required.

      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required, with experience in preparing and delivering PowerPoint presentations.

      • Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategy and translate strategy into action, excellent analytical skills, and an ability to communicate complex issues in plain language.

      • Committed to continuing education to maintain a knowledge base.

      • Ability to utilize moderately complex scientific resources across a variety of different settings.

      • Ability to work collaboratively and experience working on cross-functional teams.

      • The ability to travel to domestic and international conferences which will include occasional weekend travel is required.

      The salary range for this position is: $237,660.00 - $307,560.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
