      • GENERAL SUMMARY
        • CHKD is a premier children’s hospital, headquartered in Norfolk, VA, and we are expanding our People Operations team to enable our goal of becoming a top place to work in the regional healthcare market. In this role, you’ll be working closely with our Chief People Officer and overall leadership team to recruit, engage, retain, and develop high-performing and exceptional talent.

          We’re seeking an experienced candidate to lead our workforce culture vertical within our CHKD People Operations team, managing several different direct reports and teams. This role leads the design and development of key learning, growth, and management practices within our organization, to ensure an exceptional employee experience as we strive for recognition as an employer of choice. Strong candidates will bring excellent leadership skills, business acumen, creative and critical thinking, and subject matter expertise (learning, performance management, recruitment, retention, etc.) to this role. An exceptional candidate will be able to work cross-functionally and network across the organization to drive change and deliver on key measurables, such as:

          - Increasing upward mobility and succession planning;
        • - Increasing employee satisfaction and commitment to CHKD, our vision, and our values;
        • - Managing program operations to achieve budget and growth goals; and
        • - Working collaboratively with other key leaders to bring professional development to the workforce

      • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
        • Owns the employee development lifecycle from recruitment to retirement or exit (talent acquisition, on-boarding and orientation, talent development, employee mobility, and retention).
        • Develops, initiates, and maintains effective learning and education programs for employees that promote job performance, workforce cultural identity, retention, promotion, and succession planning.
        • Participates in the development of enterprise strategies and programs as a strategic partner, particularly from the perspective of the impact on people, defining and reinforcing CHKD’s vision and culture.
        • Works with CHKD stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain a top-tier talent review process (including performance management protocols) that will develop the expertise and people skills required for CHKD employees to achieve organizational goals.
        • Cultivates and promotes skills in team dialogue and conflict resolution to ensure all employees are seen, heard, and given the space to perform to their best level.
        • Ensures that organization-wide employee experience and culture initiatives are focused and aligned to strategic goals and meet goals for operational and program efficiencies and effectiveness.
        • Builds and maintains relationships with community talent sources, including secondary schools and higher education, local support networks, expat communities, and other healthcare organizations and business leaders.
        • Motivates and leads a high-performance team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the team; provide mentoring and development opportunities that are commensurate with an “employer of choice”.
        • Leads, manages, coaches, and trains a team or department, provides guidance, support, and mentors to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
        • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, team/department orientation, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions including up to termination processes for a team or department.
        • Performs all other duties as assigned.

          • Relevant Human Resources (HR) professional certifications preferred.
      • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
        • Required Education and Experience
          • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, education, HR, or a related field required.
          • 15+ years of experience working within HR required.
          • 10+ years of experience managing people and leading teams required.
          • 10+ years of experience working in healthcare provider organizations required.
          • 10+ years partnering with leaders to develop culture in a meaningful and data-driven way required.
          • 4+ years of progressive experience designing large-scale adult learning programs for medium to large employers required.
          • Demonstrated experience in designing and shaping a performance-driven culture required.
        • Preferred Education and Experience
          • Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
          • 15+ years working in healthcare human capital development preferred.
          • Experience developing evidence-based/data-driven tools for employee feedback preferred.

      WORKING CONDITIONS
      • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. This position requires presence in-office in Norfolk, VA during regular business hours.
