      What you will be doing:
      This long term non-permanent Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) 2 position stationed in Anchorage resides within the HIV/STD Program in the Section of Epidemiology. The DIS 2 manages statewide efforts to prevent and control sexually transmitted diseases (STDs); provides expert consultation on diagnosis, treatment, and partner services for STDs; collaborates with STD surveillance, and runs/analyzes reports on disease investigation activity. This position supervises and directs a team of Disease Intervention Specialist 1's across the state, including training, onboarding, and quality assurance for disease investigations.

      You will be joining a dedicated group of staff members in the HIV/STD Program within the Section of Epidemiology. This position includes collaboration with public, private, and military providers and key partners across the state to reduce health disparities and to help all individuals have equity in access to health care for HIV/STDs.

      This position provides 11 paid holidays, paid leave, and insurance benefits. Alternative workweek schedules and hybrid telework opportunities are possible after successful completion of training, onboarding, and at least 4-6 months of employment.

      The working environment you can expect:
      This position is located on the 5th floor of the Frontier building (3601 C St. Anchorage, AK 99503) in the heart of mid-town Anchorage, situated with views of the Chugach Range, Denali, and the Cook Inlet. There is ample free covered parking and a modern building with a high level of building security offering vending machines for drinks/snacks.

      1. Requires occasional travel within the State or to external conferences (generally 1-2 trips ranging from 3-7 days of length, potentially occurring biannually).

      Minimum Qualifications

      Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

      Equivalent to those typically gained by:
      Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in public health, health administration, nursing, epidemiology, health sciences, education, health education, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, social sciences, biological sciences, social work, or a closely related field.
