- Greet and support patients at reception
- Book appointments and manage admin systems

- You dont need NHS experience just:
- A warm, professional approach
- Strong IT, English, and communication skills

- Ideally NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing (or willing to work toward it)
- Someone who lives in or near Coniston, or wants to work in a meaningful rural role

This role involves the preparation and dispensing of medications for our dispensing patient population, including temporary residents and private prescriptions.
This role will also include medicine management tasks which include adding to and/or amending patient's EMIS medication record, as advised by doctors e.g. discharge and hospital letters
Issuing of prescriptions to both dispensing and non-dispensing patients which includes taking requests via email, EMIS and repeat slips
Handling cash and the checking of patient exemption certificates in relation to this and advising patients on the use/compliance of drugs as necessary.
Maintaining adequate stock levels of drugs within the dispensary, ordering as required, paying attention to costing at all times and checking all invoices against stock received. Rotating of stock to ensure short-dated lines are used first, and date checking of stock on a regular basis.
Maintaining up to date records of Controlled Drugs.
Ensuring prescriptions are endorsed correctly, overleaf completed by patient, counted, recorded and filed ready to be sent to the Business Services Authority for reimbursement at the end of each month.
Maintaining an efficient service between our branch surgery at Coniston with relation to the collection of prescription requests and delivery of medication prescriptions
Working in accordance with the dispensary SOPs at all times.
Carrying out audit and DRUMs to comply with the requirements of DSQS
Taking part in an annual Performance and Development review as required by the Practice.
Attending practice meetings and training events. Ensuring that significant events and near misses are reported and made available to be discussed at the meetings
Providing cover for holidays and sickness to ensure continuation of the dispensing service.
Maintaining good communications with other members of the practice to maximise benefits to patients.
Keeping up to date with drugs changes and advancements, sharing useful information with the dispensary and clinical teams.

- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths

From 1st August 2025, Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative your local not-for-profit GP federation will be supporting the Coniston GP surgery for 12 months. To deliver great care, we need great people including a new Dispenser / Administrator.
This role combines two vital elements: supporting patients at the reception desk and preparing/dispensing medication in our small community dispensary. Its ideal for someone whos calm, organised, and enjoys helping others. The surgery is going to be open 5 days a week, with no lone working at any time. Your working hours will be between 08:00 AM to 18:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
