      DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE INTERNSHIP


      The purpose of this internship program is for Interns to research cold case records to correspond with the Emmett Till grant.


      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      Requires knowledge of legal terminology and judicial processes related to area of assignment. Requires knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing court procedures and practices of the Fulton County Court System. Requires knowledge of general office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.

      Requires skill in delivering high quality, research and writing. Generating enthusiasm and support for program objectives.

      Requires ability to summarize cases, review facts to include incident location, date of incident, possible suspects, witnesses, witness interviews, and the ability to determine if the homicide could be a result of a civil rights violation.


      Qualifications and Requirements:

      • Must be at least 18 years of age and must be a high school graduate (or G.E.D.), an Associate degree in criminal justice, law, political science or related field is preferred
      • Grant period is through September 30, 2025
      • Internship is part-time with no benefits
      • There is a maximum of 29 hours per work week
      • A valid Georgia Driver’s License may be required based on area of assignment

      D uties and Responsibilities
      Intern responsibilities will vary depending on placement within the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. All interns will work under close supervision by the Cold Case Team to support the goals of their assigned division. Some examples of responsibilities are listed below:

      Essential tasks:
      • Reviews documents to determine whether a case qualifies for a particular grant
      • Interprets legal documents; Keyboarding and data entry. Using spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation, and other software
      • Understanding, using, and explaining Court-specific computer applications to manage court processes, gather and analyze statistics, and create reports
      • Performs general clerical functions
      • Identify and investigates facts of a legal matters
      • Resolves problems and makes decisions
      • Communicates effectively with coworkers, supervisors, legal professionals, and the public
