      Primary Role:

      TMSA is seeking a dynamic, highly skilled District Math Department Coordinator to lead the development, alignment, and implementation of a rigorous and coherent mathematics curriculum across all TMSA campuses (K–12). This instructional leader will play a pivotal role in shaping math instruction, coaching teachers, supporting school leadership, analyzing data, and driving student achievement in mathematics throughout the district.

      This position requires frequent travel between TMSA campuses located in Cary/Apex, Greensboro, and Charlotte. Candidates must be able to travel weekly and manage a flexible schedule.

      Qualifications:

      • Required:

        • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or a related field.
        • Minimum of 5 years of successful math teaching experience (preferably grades 6–12).
        • Valid NC teaching license in ELA or equivalent.
        • Proven experience in instructional leadership or curriculum development.
        • Demonstrated ability to coach teachers and deliver professional development.
        • Strong knowledge of state standards (NC SCOS), assessment tools, and data analysis practices.
        • Deep understanding of math pedagogy, including inquiry-based and student-centered strategies.
        • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between campuses.

        Preferred:

        • Master’s Degree in Education, Mathematics, Curriculum & Instruction, or Educational Leadership.
        • Experience working in a charter school setting.
        • Familiarity with NWEA MAP and other diagnostic assessments.
        • Experience with STEAM integration and project-based learning models.

      Skills, Duties, and Responsibilities:

      • Curriculum Leadership

        • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a vertically aligned, standards-based math curriculum (K–12), with a strong focus on STEAM integration.
        • Ensure alignment of math curriculum with North Carolina standards, national best practices, and college/career readiness expectations.
        • Promote innovative instructional practices that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and student-centered learning.

        Instructional Support & Professional Development

        • Design and deliver targeted professional development for math teachers and instructional leaders across campuses.
        • Provide ongoing instructional coaching and mentoring to teachers, including lesson modeling, co-planning, and observation-feedback cycles.
        • Support teachers in using effective data-driven instruction and intervention strategies.

        Data Analysis & Assessment

        • Analyze formative and summative assessment data (including NWEA MAP, EOG/EOC, ACT/SAT) to evaluate instructional effectiveness and student progress.
        • Work collaboratively with school leaders and teachers to develop action plans based on student performance data.
        • Support the implementation of math benchmarking systems and ensure consistency in progress monitoring tools.

        Collaboration & Leadership

        • Serve as the district-wide point of contact and thought leader for all things mathematics.
        • Collaborate with campus administration, instructional coaches, and department chairs to support school improvement goals.
        • Lead Math PLCs and District Math Task Forces to build teacher leadership capacity.

        Program Oversight

        • Coordinate enrichment and intervention programs such as Math Olympiad, MathCounts, Star League, and Saturday Academies.
        • Organize and oversee the School and District-Level Annual MathMatters Competition , including logistics, promotion, student registration, and coordination with school teams and external partners.
        • Contribute to the development of high-quality instructional materials, including pacing guides, assessments, and performance tasks.
