      Serves as the key advisor on all education matters to the Department Administrator, Department Chairperson or Division Head. Maintains primary responsibility for developing the annual budget and for securing and managing all fiscal and human resources for education programs. Plans, organizes, coordinates and manages all activities to ensure efficient operations. Responsible for the administrative support functions for the department/office/clinic. Oversees daily operations to ensure efficient and effective operation of areas of responsibility. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers who perform office support duties which support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for managing a specialized system or program; operates within budget.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

      • Directs, supervises, coordinates specific functions and activities of division or program as requested including computer systems, financial management, to include budget review, payroll, PCA timely basis, track division specific purchases, human resources, data processing, maintenance, support, facilities services, etc.
      • In collaboration with the Division Head, oversees all financial management issues for the division to include authorizing and tracking purchases, capital purchasing and materials management, monthly review of financial statements against budget targets, and reviewing and revising employee funding profiles on a timely basis. Oversees all sources of funding to the Division (i.e. Foundation, UMMC, and external Service Contracts). Interfaces with key department areas when required: Finance, Payroll, Purchasing, Research Administration, and Operations.
      • With Division Head and PA Finance Department, reviews monthly division P&L statements and identifies monthly variances. Discusses and implements reconciliation strategies with Division Head to meet budget targets.
      • With the Director of Operations, Division Head, and/or Medical Director, strategizes improvements to, or expansion of, clinical programs.
      • In partnership with Division Head and PA Finance Department, ensures that all service contracts are updated and that Finance is billing for services rendered. Renews existing or creates new contracts after expiration.

      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

      • Master's degree from accredited college or university in Business Management or related field. Minimum; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Minimum five years proven experience in health care.
      • Minimum three years' experience in a management role, specifically handling business operations and HR issues.
      • Strong PC proficiency.
      • Knowledge of IDX or similar computerized billing system.
      • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
      • Understanding of payers to Maryland.
      • Understanding of FSC's and pay codes used in IDX; insurance plans, payor contractual
      • Requirements for the job; importance of compliance with all government regulations regarding billing.

      Total Rewards
      The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
