      Job Description:

      ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

      • Under direction of the Deputy Director, administer, coordinate and facilitate strategic planning activities for the agency. Assist the various agency divisions with planning processes for capital development, programs and activities.
      • Supervise assigned staff, scheduling of work, establish and convey clear goals and objectives, evaluation of performance, identify training opportunities, all related personnel actions.
      • Management of the division budget, including budget planning, grant writing/management, sound fiscal management and reporting of division expenditures.
      • Coordinate contracted planning services with private sector providers following all applicable state guidelines.
      • Assist in designing and coordinating data gathering and survey methods with agency divisions, partners or contracted providers to gain and analyze information that assists in planning decisions and capital development.
      • Oversee federal aid coordination, application processes, and reporting related to the National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund.
      • Assist Parks Division staff with federal aid coordination, application processes and reporting related to the Recreational Trails Program.
      • Assist with grant writing activities related to capital development and agency programs.
      • Assist in developing and participating in fund-raising activities with public and private partners and foundations.
      • Represent the agency at various workshops and partner events, make public presentations as assigned.
      • Maintain Division adherence to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and administrative directives.
      • Serve as the point of contact to communicate office needs within the office space shared by staff serving other agency divisions.
      • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with federal, state, and local officials, NGPC divisions and the public. Attend conferences to network with professionals and learn of new programming opportunities.


      Requirements / Qualifications:

      Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an area related to division function plus five years related experience. OR A Master’s degree in an area related to division functions plus three years experience. OR A high school education plus nine years experience related to division functions. Three years of the work experience must be of an administrative and supervisory nature.


      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of planning processes and practices that will enable applicant to facilitate capital development projects and program development. Knowledge of survey methods and information gathering processes. Ability to investigate grant opportunities and write grants. Ability to develop and present public programs. Skill in verbal and written communication with public and private partners, foundations and organizations. General knowledge of Nebraska’s natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities to best formulate programs meeting the agency’s mission and constituents needs. Ability to facilitate planning processes.
