- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field and 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Proven history of effectively leading and managing staff and achieving successful results benefiting the organization.
- Strong project management skills and experience, including reviewing and improving business practices and processes.
- Extensive and in-depth ability to structure and perform complex financial models and data queries to support strategic business planning, financial-based decisions, and practices with adherence to WestEd financial policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) using various tools.
- Fluency with Excel, experience with enterprise financial planning and reporting tools such as Adaptive Insights and Cognos.
- Must be accurate, detail-oriented, and yet be able to view financial information from a broad organizational perspective.
- Demonstrated professional maturity and organizational political astuteness combined with tact, diplomacy, common sense, sound judgment and confidentiality.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a diverse work environment and various levels of management.
- Customer service attitude and approach to working with internal/organizational clients as well as external parties.

About the Role:
The Division Financial Manager is a leadership (senior-level position) within WestEd Division Finance Teams reporting to the Division Director with a dotted line to the Agency Finance. The Division Financial Manager is responsible for supporting the Division Director through a variety of financial and project management activities related to strategic business decisions across WestEd’s departments and divisions. The responsibilities include financial reporting, complex financial analysis and modeling, budget management and development, and navigating financial systems/applications. This position is responsible for division-level and project budgeting, ad hoc projects, and management of various cross-division and strategic projects.
Candidates with an interest in applying corporate business practices to the non-profit sector within an organization whose mission is to improve the educational systems that serve children and families will appreciate this position.
Responsibilities:
Manage the Division Finance team, including supervision and mentorship. Provide opportunities for training and career advancement for direct reports. Mentor the team to ensure best practices, collegiality, and high level of retention and performance. Provide insightful interpretation of data and forward-looking strategic recommendations. Evaluate information/data and advise Division leadership to drive strategic business decisions, identify issues and opportunities for continuous quality improvement. Validate the Division’s monthly forecast submissions to ensure accuracy. Analyze, improve, and streamline complex financial reports and models including variance and trend analysis to highlight key business components and models that support current division/WestEd business strategies and goals operational, and financial goals.
Combine information from various business systems including Adaptive, Cognos, PAC, and disparate other sources to provide coherent and actionable information. Ensure accurate development of organization or division budgets, including forecast development, and project budget and subcontract management. Work collaboratively with the Finance & Operations staff across WestEd’s divisions and departments to evaluate existing business processes and recommend improvements to increase accuracy, gain efficiency and establish consistency. Improve and refine WestEd’s processes, policies, and procedures, particularly related to budgeting and financial activities. Work collaboratively with and across finance teams to review and develop key financial and budgetary initiatives to ensure successful implementation and compliance across all departments and programs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The full salary range for this position, WestEd level H, is $99,360 to $149,000 but WestEd does not typically hire at or near the top of the salary range. The typical hiring range for this role is $99,360 to $124,200. The actual offer takes into account multiple factors including but not limited to education; experience; internal equity, and other organizational needs.
