      LOCATION, SALARY, AND CONTACT INFORMATION :

      Location: Department of Juvenile Justice, Probation and Community Intervention, 2737 Centerview Drive, Suite 1300, Tallahassee, FL 32399-3100.

      Starting Salary: $1,907.11 Biweekly ($49,584.86 Annually ) In accordance with current spending guidelines, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

      Assists the Director of Policy and Programming with the development of administrative rules, policies, and procedures related to the provision of intervention and case management services for youth who have been referred to the department for services or court ordered to be supervised by the department.

      Provides technical assistance to Probation and Community Corrections program area staff and contracted providers as it relates to administrative rules, policies, and procedures, as assigned by the Director of Policy and Programming.

      Assists the Director of Policy and Programming with system improvement projects, programming implementations, and other special projects, as assigned by the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, or Assistant Secretary.

      Participates in meetings, workgroups, and other activities pertaining to the Probation and Community Corrections program area, as assigned by the Director of Policy and Programming.

      Assists the program area's contracts team with the development of scopes of work. Ensures that scopes of work and similar language contained in solicitations, contracts, memoranda of understanding/agreement, and any amendments are consistent with administrative rules, policies, and procedures related to the provision of intervention and case management services.

      Assists the Statewide Training Coordinator with the development and delivery of training on administrative rules, policies, and procedures, as directed by the Director of Policy and Programming.

      Completes reviews/audits that are handled separate and apart from the Central Communications Center (CCC) process, as assigned by the Assistant Secretary or Director of Policy and Programming. Coordinates with program area staff as needed to complete the review/audit, which may require identifying and leading an internal review/audit team; reviews/audits may occasionally require overnight travel. Reports the outcome of each review/audit and recommends corrective action, if needed.

      Serves as the program area’s liaison with the Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA) as it relates to the activities required by the interagency agreement between the Department and OSCA, including, but not limited to, maintaining the Florida Delinquency Benchbook.

      Performs other related duties as assigned.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

      Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.

      Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.

      Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.

      Ability to conduct fact-finding research.

      Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

      Ability to work independently.

      Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.

      Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

      Ability to communicate effectively.

      Ability to establish working relationships with others.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

      Preference may be given to candidates with:

      Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

      Current or previous employment with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

      At least five (5) years’ experience providing direct intervention and case management services to youth in Florida’s juvenile justice system, e.g., as a Juvenile Probation Officer.

      At least five (5) years’ experience managing/supervising staff who provide intervention and case management services to youth in Florida’s juvenile justice system, e.g., as a Juvenile Probation Officer Supervisor, Assistant Chief Probation Officer, or Chief Probation Officer.

      Experience conducting or participating in reviews/audits to determine compliance with statutes, rules, policies, and procedures, e.g., supervisory case reviews, initial assessments, program reviews, or Monitoring and Quality Improvement (MQI) reviews.

      Experience communicating and working directly with judicial partners in Florida’s juvenile justice system, e.g., judges or state attorneys.

      SPECIAL NOTES :

If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid driver's license within 30 days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purposes/Employment/Education on licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable. Licenses that have Corrected Lenses Restrictions are acceptable, provided the driver's wear corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
