      Valley County is looking for a DMV Clerk to provide customer service and technical support to the Department of Motor Vehicles within the County Assessor’s Office. Incumbents in this position process a variety of vehicle-related transactions, such as titles of ownership and registrations, in accordance with established operating policies and procedures. Work is performed under supervision of the DMV Supervisor.

      Typical Duties & Responsibilities
      The DMV Clerk plays a vital role in assisting county residents with various motor vehicle-related transactions. This position requires strong customer service skills, accuracy, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks efficiently.

      Key Responsibilities Include:
      • Assisting customers with vehicle registrations, renewals, and transfers.
      • Processing driver's license and identification card applications.
      • Collecting fees and balancing daily cash drawers.
      • Maintaining accurate records and files.
      • Answering questions and providing information regarding DMV laws and procedures.
      • Operating office equipment such as computers, printers, and cash registers.
      • Handling incoming phone calls and directing inquiries appropriately.
      • Performing other related duties as assigned.

      Additionally, this position will cross-train in the Assessor’s Plat Clerk office to be able to provide support to that team as needed and when the workload requires.

      We are looking for someone with a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent customer service skills, experience operating standard office equipment including a personal computer and job-related software applications, ability to operate a cash drawer and provide accurate change to customers, and strong attention to detail. Anyone interested in this position will have to pass an ITD background check which includes being fingerprinted, passing a criminal record review, and taking a drug test.
